Starting another thread on this rubbish as it doesn't belong in the other re the win by Goncalo.  This must have been written and ready to go in case of bad news.  How predictable as always, a goody story when a bad one comes out.!   Video of choir on link

Madeleine McCann's mother Kate and her choir made up of families of missing people hope to win Britain's Got Talent after reducing judges to tears with a heartbreaking performance in secret auditions

Kate McCann is part of a choir making an emotional bid to win Britain's Got Talent as families searching for lost loved ones brought judges to tears with a secret audition.

She has been joined in the group by the father of chef Claudia Lawrence, who disappeared in York in 2009, and the family of murdered schoolgirl Alice Gross.

Madeleine McCann's mother Kate, 48, is an ambassador for The Missing People's Choir, which is expected to appear on the talent show in May, ten years after her daughter's disappearance from Praia Da Luz in Portugal.

Although she has not been singing in the choir during the auditions, Mrs McCann may become more involved if they progress to the televised stages.

The choir reduced onlookers to tears during the BGT auditions with their tear-jerking song I Miss You, written by Peter Boxell, whose son Lee went missing from Sutton, south London, in 1988.

The song includes the lyrics: ‘I never thought I’d be without you. I always thought you’d be here safe with me.

'Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up to find you.'

BGT source told The Sun said: 'Their story is unbelievably moving so it’s certain to capture the hearts of the nation.

'It’s ten years since Maddie went missing so if they got through to the live shows it’s possible Kate will want to be involved.'

Among those in the choir are Ros Hodgkiss and Nina Gross, the mother of sister of Alice Gross, 14, who was murdered by convicted killer Arnis Zalkalns.

Denise Horvath Allan, the mother of missing Charles Horvath Allan, is also part of the group, which is led by Missing People choir director Jim Hawkins.

Peter Lawrence's involvement comes after police announced in January that the investigation efforts into his daughter’s suspected murder would be scaled back.

Retired solicitor Peter, 75, expressed his disappointment but vowed never to give up searching for Claudia.

Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell has previously given the Missing People campaign his support, along with celebrities including Stephen Fry.

The choir also includes the sister of Lucia Hawkins, who went missing in 2009 in Perugia, Italy, at the age of 42.

LYRICS TO 'I MISS YOU'

In my dreams, I see your face, Walk with you, hold you safe.

Close my eyes, I think of you, Until the day I see you again.

I never thought, I’d be without you, I’d always thought, you’d be here safe with me.

I’m so empty and silent without you.

In my dreams, I see your face,

Walk with you, hold you safe. Close my eyes, I think of you, Until the day I see you again.

Where are you now? Are you safe and well? Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up to find you.

Searching, calling,

In my dreams, I see your face, Walk with you, hold you safe. Close my eyes, I think of you,

I miss you.
.

Last November Kate McCann told how every day brings fresh hope that her missing daughter Madeleine will be found.

The former GP revealed her continued heartache during an impassioned speech as she joined forces with the mother of murdered Alice Gross to launch a new charity.

The appeal, Find Every Child, aims to raise money so the charity Missing People can reach out to the thousands of youngsters who disappear each year.

Speaking at the launch event in London, Ms McCann said: 'We go to bed every night with the agonising feeling that just maybe tomorrow we will find something to lead us back to Madeleine. To let us know what happened. To give us hope.'

Mrs McCann shared the stage at the Corinthia Hotel with Ros Hodgkiss, whose 14-year-old daughter Alice was found dead in September 2014 after she went missing for five weeks.

Together, the mothers - united it grief over the loss of their daughters - highlighted the plight of 140,000 youngsters who go missing in Britain each year.

Mrs McCann then made an impromptu speech in which she urged the public to give their support.

'When my little girl first disappeared, on that horrendous night that changed our lives forever, I could never have imagined that nearly 10 years later we would still be in the same position.

'That I would be stood here in front of you tonight talking about the issue and how important it is that we look for each and every missing child.

'Giving hope is what Missing People do day in and day out. Please help this wonderful charity in their ambitious goal to Find Every Child.'

Madeleine, three, vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal's Praia da Luz nearly 10 years ago in May 2007.

Mrs McCann and her heart doctor husband Gerry, both 48, from Rothley, Leicestershire, believe their daughter – who would now be aged 13 – could still be alive.

So right on the 10th anniversary month.

.... I think it's fair to say that thankfully we'll never see Kate McCann squawking down a microphone on live national TV.

I hope the genuine people who have missing loved ones do well in it though. I also hope that they read a copy of Goncalo's book.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that we are spared the sight and sound of Kate singing.

You never know, she might actually be okay, but it's just such an insult as ever to have her gatecrashing events with genuine bereaved families.

Madeleine McCaan: Amaral wins, Maddie Missing and Kate doesn’t sing on BGT
by Anorak | 1st, February 2017

Madeleine McCann: a look at reporting on the missing child. Today Madeleine McCann is on the front pages of the Mirror and Express.

As ever we are looking at the missing child’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann. They’ve lost their libel case against former detective Goncarlo Amaral, who in a book and documentary implicated them in their daughter’s disappearance. In 2015, a Lisbon court sided with the McCanns, ordering Amaral to pay €500,000 (£429,000) in compensation to the parents.

Last year that ruling was overturned. The McCanns took the case to Portugal’s supreme court. And lost.

The McCanns have issued a statement:

“What we have been told by our lawyers is obviously extremely disappointing. It is eight years since we brought the action and in that time the landscape has dramatically changed, namely there is now a joint Metropolitan police-Policia Judiciaria investigation which is what we’ve always wanted.

“The police in both countries continue to work on the basis that there is no evidence that Madeleine has come to physical harm. We will, of course, be discussing the implications of the supreme court ruling with our lawyers in due course.”

The Express tells of the McCanns’ “new agony”.

The Mirror tells of the McCanns’ devastating defeat.

The Daily Record sums up in a headline:

Kate and Gerry McCann facing financial ruin after losing libel case against cop who said they faked daughter’s abduction.

Adding:

Kate and Gerry McCann could be left penniless… Kate and Gerry will also have to pay his legal fees – believed to be a six-figure sum – as well as their own lawyers’ bills.

What about the fighting fun to find the child? Martin Fricker writes:

The result could empty Madeleine’s Fund – a company set up days after Madeleine vanished – and leave the McCanns broke.

Madeleine’s Fund has about £700,000 in the coffers. But accounts filed last month say nearly £500,000 of that was invested last year in an unknown venture.

So around £200,000 remains?

More than £4.2million has been donated to the fund since three-year-old Madeleine vanished from the apartment in Praia da Luz.

The Sun has a slightly different figure:

If they are ordered to pay Mr Amaral’s legal costs, the money may have to come from the Find Madeleine fund – which has dwindled to around £480,000.

The Telegraph wonders what will happen next:

Madeleine McCann’s parents could be sued by police chief who falsely accused them of covering up death

Could its not news.

Over in the Mail there is news of a sort:

Madeleine McCann’s mother Kate and her choir made up of families of missing people hope to win Britain’s Got Talent after reducing judges to tears with a heartbreaking performance in secret auditions

Reducing the BGT judges to tears is a task akin to differentiating between your arse and your elbow. But the Mail’s story is weaker than Amanda Holden’s tear ducts .

Madeleine McCann’s mother Kate, 48, is an ambassador for the The Missing People’s Choir, which is expected to appear on the talent show in May, ten years after her daughter’s disappearance from Praia Da Luz in Portugal.

Although she has not been singing in the choir during the auditions, Mrs McCann may become more involved if they progress to the televised stages.

The Mail has used Kate McCann to flog a story that doesn’t feature her.

There is no word on the investigation into what happned to Madeleine McCann.

Such are the facts.

OMG - How cheesey is that song. And there`s her doing her `sweetness and light` act, loving rubbing shoulders with celebrities - little do those celebrities know what she is really like and what really happened.

-----------------

The press will have contacted the charity Missing in the light of the latest news and will have asked whether Kate will still be considered a suitable ambassador given that the parents lost the case against Detective Amaral....

Missing must know how little public support the McCanns have and including her in the choir could have invoked an uproar from members of the public who do not believe her version of events. Or, if the do believe in the abduction story, they hold the parents responsible as they left the children alone.

On the other hand Kate may already have been dropped by the organisation and this is a subtle or not so subtle way of leaking the news......

Surely it's only a matter of time before they (Missing People) drop Kate McCann like a hot potato. I can't help but wonder what the other people who are linked through the organisation, who genuinely have missing loved ones, actually think of her? And what sort of conversations they have behind closed doors when they're forced to spend time in the same room etc?

I think the pair are now a liability. The latest ruling is a disaster for them as not only is it terrible publicity but it hits them where it really hurts.... money and marketing were huge features of this case despite what they say. If Detective Amaral is right and Madeleine died that week then the Fund is a fraud. It was not set up to find an alive Madeleine..... it was set up to generate income for totally different reasons.....

This why they have been so hellbent on silencing Dr Amaral.... his version of events makes the fund a fraud and a sham and means the McCanns and their supporters have lied through their teeth all this time ....I don't see how they can wriggle out of this one....

The best thing they could do would be to disappear into obscurity ...

It would be good if anyone has a link to the 'rewritten' Sun article, I can't find it online.

Reading between the lines of that email sounds more like the choir are worried they will get fewer votes if KM is felt to be involved imo. Crikey

I suppose so GP, but the whole choir have a missing family member so why should Kate encourage more + votes  ??
She is no more deserving than anyone else in the choir in that sense.    imo

Please be aware that Kate McCann is NOT INVOLVED, nor ever likely to be, with The Missing People Choir. The choir is trying hard to promote awareness of the charity Missing People and the support it gives to families who have loved-ones missing. I repeat, Kate McCann is NOT involved with the choir.
