Re: Missing People news
Andrew, it's NOT a good idea for you to ring anyone!
You really need to stop and think about the effect that your actions will have on people's perception of McCann sceptics in general.

But she is still an 'ambassador'. Checked the website and there are 9 ambassadors, three of whom I have heard of other than the fragrant Kate.

Call me a cynic but they don't say that she isn't paid expenses or a salary.

Re: Missing People news
Exactly. I have put in several FOI requests asking whether she has been paid a salary, and if so how much, and every single one has been completely ignored. I was also blocked on Twitter by them, having never even interacted with them, not even once. I am not buying this "volunteer" bullshit for one nanosecond.

Re: Missing People news
Kate volunteered. Missing People took her on. (Another organisation that wanted to make money from Madeleine)
Missing people pay her wages.
Kate McCann would not be doing it for the goodness of her heart (not got one).
She will be getting paid and a fairly substantial amount as well. On a par with say a part time GP's salary maybe?
IMO etc etc.

Oh well, at least we now know for certain that she volunteered.
I was worried that she might have been strapped up Hannibal Lecter style and wheeled kicking and screaming into the Missing People office.

Out on the town with Dim Friend Fiona...
Thank you for that link, Freedom - I am not a fan of Dim Fiona, either.
Here she is looking smirky-perky :
Dentistry on show :
Kate's looking a bit rounded in the tum to me and what about those hot pink fingernails...
...a memory of the colour of madeleine/missing people at her fingertips...?
My thoughts only.

Re: Missing People news
If it costs £20,000 pw to run the phoneline that is £1,040,000 per year. If you divide that by €25,000 estimated salary including employer costs that means they have 41.6 people manning that their phoneline! Now I have no idea what the costs of the calls are - is it a free for the family /friends of the missing person to report the disappearance? Or does the caller incur the cost? maybe the staff manning the line are paid much more. Even allowing for this, and reducing the estimate for staff on this line, it seems excessive for a line that surely can't be ringing non stop?

http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2013/12/ofcom-makes-uk-calls-0800-116-numbers-free.html
116 numbers are free to call from the U K. I presume that this applies to mobiles now as well; the link is from nearly 2 years ago.
I don't how much the charity pays for the line or how many staff are needed to man it but £20,000.00 a week certainly sounds like a lot to keep it going.

Re: Missing People news
I'm wondering how many people the McCanns have manning their Investigation Line 44 845 838 4699. And what does it cost to ring this no? Does Kate ever answer it?

Assuming it's the same as numbers beginning 0845, here are the charges.

Kate McCann and Coral Jones given award by Missing People
Tragic mothers Kate McCann and Coral Jones have been given an award for putting aside their own agony to help other families with missing children.
The two mums were stunned to receive the Stephen Wynard Award from the Charity Missing People at a gala event attended by Bob Geldof at London's BT Tower this week.
The award recognises people who, “despite having been affected themselves, volunteer their time for free to make a difference for all missing children and their families."
Both Kate and Coral have been supporting the charity's Child Rescue Alert campaign, which is aimed at getting as many people as possible to register to receive free text alerts when a child goes missing and is believed to be in imminent danger.
Since Kate launched the campaign in The Sun, over 35,000 people have signed up to the system, bringing the total number in the UK to over 350,000.
Receiving her award Kate, 47, from Rothley, Leicestershire, said: "Child Rescue Alert is all about encouraging communities to recognise the power they have to help others right on their doorsteps.
“It’s heartening that so many communities of neighbours, schools and colleagues have registered for this system.
“Child Rescue Alert relies on its ability to reach a vast number of people, so we need to spread the word further and get more people signed up. This is where everyone can help."
Coral, 44, whose daughter April, 5, was abducted and murdered in October 2012, was overwhelmed by the award, saying: “I’m pleased to have received this award tonight. I want to do as much as I can to make sure no family experiences the pain we still go through.
“I’ve worked hard to try and make sure that if the worst happens, other families and other children will have the chance that April didn’t have."
Bob Geldof is co-founder of Groupcall, which provides the technology behind Child Rescue Alert.
Sir Bob urged Sun readers to sign up to receive the alerts, saying: “It’s a no-brainer. If your child went missing and their life was in immediate danger, you would want to get the message out in minutes. If you care about children’s safety, please sign up today."
To register text HERO and your postcode to 85080.
Registration costs a standard network text message rate. Once registered, it is then free to receive Child Rescue Alerts.

Re: Missing People news
Oooh! What's the best way to drum up publicity for our charity? Oh! I know! We'll invent an award and give it to someone who already does publicity for us and then people will think it's something prestigious and worthy when it's really just another PR event.
What about giving the award to someone who isn't related to our charity...?
Nah.

Textusa gives a interesting observation on this in their latest blog.
Has anyone heard of this award? Was anyone aware that this gala took place?

Re: Missing People news
It must be Stephen Winyard, not Winard, who was an early McCann backer and apparently still is.

There is a picture on twitter of Kate, Coral and some chap. So it appears it did take place or conveniently staged.

No pic in the Sun though, just old icon pic of Madeleine and pic of KM. You would think there would be a photo? Most odd.
