I'm sure Kate was very much welcomed into the Royal Family especially as the long courtship and her background made it likely that she would play by their rules - and she has. I doubt that the Queen would have given her more support than she gave Kate though.

Meghan was great for the UK media - opportunities to full up pages of rubbish about her every move, and she is so good looking too. She will have increased newspaper sales. While I suppose some of the time Harry and Meghan wanted publicity; other times they didn't and complained. She seems to have a horrible father and half brother and sister. Again more for the media to write about.

I'll watch the interview when it's available - it can't be worse than listening to anything from the McCanns or Bill Gates!

She is far too gobby and self-opinionated to have fitted into the Royal family.
Far better in LA.

It's available now.

https://www.itv.com/hub/oprah-with-meghan-and-harry/10a1332a0001

The sight of camera crew in face masks AND visors had me spluttering over my tea! Thank goodness Meghan, Harry and Oprah weren't.

Piers Morgan has made his feelings clear, I see.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-56334082?fbclid=IwAR2_ozDLICZl3Agv2DMtg-WYnkbHpsBErq7aQYIlK4MFIBfSB-Yf2fZIntk

P.S. I have now watched the programme. It's difficult for me to come to a decision on whether Meghan is a jealous manipulative woman intent on estranging her husband from his family and friends, or whether she has really been badly treated.

Trashy headlines from newspapers and magazines were awful - have no lessons been learned after Diana - but I don't feel that racism is the reason for them. A lot was made of a comment from an unnamed family member about how dark would Archie's skin colour be but that was just one person and it may not have been said with malice, just interest.

I don't often agree with Piers Morgan or like his bombastic approach, but he is right on this one. Freedom of speech issue aside, Markle is a horrendous being. I have followed her antics from the first signs that all was not right with her. Like everyone else I thought nothing of Harry's choice and I watched the wedding.
I did think it off that none of her family were invited, except her Mum, yet she invited Hollywood celebrities that we find out later she hardly knew.
Then the awful treatment of her father who brought her up and paid all her education. He seems a really nice man.
There is tons of info about her; I'm not going to transfer it all here cos there's too much and it's all pretty damning.
I'll just say she is totally fake, a narcissist, an attention seeker and a trouble maker and nearly all the Oprah interview was provable lies.

My son can't normally stand Piers Morgan but he does agree with him over the divine Miss M!

A total narcissist in his (my son's) view.

Meghan complained that her son wasn't allowed to have the title prince. There may have been exceptions in the past but the ruling is that only the sons of the immediate heir to the throne have it. So while Charles's sons are princes, Anne's and Edward's sons aren't.

This is good for a laugh.

I've just started to watch this. I've seen these four before discussing something else (maybe the JonBenet Ramsay case) and that was excellent.

I like Lady C - mad as a hatter but she does speak a lot of sense. Here's another one where she debunks the porky that Meghan told about having a wedding ceremony in a garden before the official one and what is far more likely to be the truth about the "who made who cry" episode.

You have to laugh or you'd cry. Let's hope that his first task will be to deal with the misinformation in a certain recent TV interview.

This is the social event mentioned by Meghan as the one in which she says she and Harry were feeling at their most suicidal.

Guinea Pig - they are attending some big social function where they will be much photographed and have to meet and greet.

However bad they felt, they would have made an effort to be pleasant. Harry would be used to such events and maybe hiding his feelings; she is an actress and I used to watch Suits where she was one of the stars.

I am very depressed by the pandemic and the restrictions I am under BUT on the limited occasions I meet people I smile and am sociable. Being with people raises my spirits even if it is a casual conversation in a park with a stranger who admires my dog, or if it is with a friend or family member.

A smile does not necessarily mean you are happy with your life at that point in time or at all.

Antonia, I agree that a smile doesn't necessarily one is happy, but she said she was sobbing when the lights went down, but her make-up remains perfect.
I agree with Piers Morgan that everything she verbalises is fake, it's Hollywood acting drama and a lie.

Good makeup (and I'm sure she has the best ) wouldn't necessarily run!  How can anyone say of someone they do not know  or who they have only met superficially once or twice that everything they say is fake?

My opinion of Meghan is that I am not sure what to make of her but I wish I had her looks!

The problem is, as with a certain couple I can think of, that Meghan has told lies or exaggerated trivial happenings so often that it is very hard to judge when there is a rare occasion when she might actually have been honest.

At least we now know why she tried to make out the royal family is racist by saying someone queried what Archie's skin colour would be. It was nothing of the sort, she made that up to stir up trouble. It happened when they were dating and Princess Anne was concerned about the two CULTURES, (royalty and American actress type) trying to merge. Absolutely nothing to do with anyone's skin colour. No one knew she was biracial at that point, but Princess Anne could see her for what she was a mile off.

I haven't seen confirmation that it was Anne who said it. She (or whoever it was) might just as well have wondered if the children would have red hair.

The time it was said isn't clear - according to Harry it was before they were married while Meghan claimed it was when she was pregnant.

Perhaps the last one should be in the silly names topic as well. That's serious urine extracting - giving the baby the Queen's childhood nickname after all this pair have done to harm the monarchy.
