Upon reaching 25K I wouldn't be surprised if the whiff of despair is replaced by the whiff of spontaneous human combustion over in Rothley. They must be incandescent.

Glad to have made a couple of donations with messages under my own name - I think it's very hard to claim that so many thoughtful, level-headed messages are from an army of trolls without sounding like a complete imbecile. (Although I suppose that's never stopped some).

I too hope Leanne will be careful over any invitations from the press - even through this could be a great opportunity for them to come out with something sensible and balanced I still fear they would simply try and stitch her up.

£ 23,910 (twenty three thousand nine hundred and ten pounds)

These amounts will be applied to cover expenses with the defence of Gonçalo Amaral, in the civil suit brought against him by the McCann family.

The appeal is being prepared by Mr Amaral's lawyers and will be filed in due time.

Once the appeal is filed, PJGA will publish a statement.

Ironside (Dani) was one of the most prolific bloggers and commentators on the Maddie case right from the early days until her death of cancer in 2012. Her website `Steel Magnolia` is still accessible - google `steel magnolia madeleine` to get to it as there are other steel magnolias. Her efforts should not be forgotten.

Yippee!!! This is wonderful news, and hope the media do the right thing and publish an article to show just how much support there is for Mr Amaral.

got home from work today,logged onto twitter and said in a loud voice OMG, my HO said what's wrong, I said the fund has reached it's target. He isn't interested in the case but he knew what I meant he also didn't mind me wiping my tears of joy away.

I have just logged on this morning, and this is fabulous news. Kudos to Leanne Baulch and everyone who made this happen.
