Re: Dr Amaral's Defence Funds
Don't suppose anyone else noticed but when it reached £50,000. we were on Page 50 of this thread
eta - I know it would have been spookier if we had been on page 50,000 - but even so .......

It's just a case of waiting for the judges' decision - the time factor being I think comparable to the length of a piece of string.

Very true. Was hoping some sort of update would be released at least. Even if it's to say I might be another week or 2.
Although, the old saying - no news is good news....

There won't be an update. It'll just be the decision. At the end of the piece of string
ETA: And I think it will be a lot lot longer than another week or two .....

So, are we talking months then...
A very long piece of string, regardless.
The optimistic side of me did wonder whether all would be hushed up until the OG/PJ make their move.
Just a thought.

The appeal has absolutely nothing to do with the police investigation.

You would think so, yes.
The magnitude of it all makes me think (and maybe wrongly), that it is somewhat interlinked.
Just my thoughts.

The two things are completely separate.
One is a civil court case. One is a police investigation.
To think they are somehow linked or that one can influence the other is straying into conspiracy theory territory. Please don't let's go down that road over here

candyfloss wrote:Well at least all the facts are there, even mentioning the donation from the police, so not all bad. Not only are all the donators trolls but they are now elevated to 'sick trolls'. I expect the kind hearted people who donated including the police will not be too happy with that tag. However, it will make lots of people look and check it out, so all in all could be worse, at least it is out there.
Lots of publicity for the fund
Well, as I mentioned when I joined, I am one of those so called 'Sick Trolls' I have contributed 3 times so far and intend to carry on. Anyone in any doubt as to whether people are Trolls or not should just go and read the comments. They will then find that we are normal, honest, people who are contributing so that Mr Amaral will be able to defend himself against these people who want him to 'feel fear and pain'!
You will be pleased no doubt to know that the fund has now reached £50,745 and is still climbing! People from all parts of the world have sent money and the opposition is so worried about this they have the link to the Amaral Fund removed from Google. How on earth have they had the power to do that? Is it a case of Carter Ruck again?
Something is seriously wrong when a person is forced to divorce his wife, lose his home, his car, his business, half his pension and find his dog with his head bashed in, just because they do not believe the official version of what really happened and so they wrote a book based on the police files. Where is the justice in this?
This case is giving the UK Government and British justice a bad name. They should never have got involved in what after all is supposed to be a case of a missing child. How many other cases of this kind have attracted the same attention and the millions of £s that this Government has funded with tax payers' money? M would be getting on for 12 yrs old now if she is alive. Why do they keep posting pictures of a 2yr old child? No-one knows what she looks like now. Her eye could have been corrected by now....yes, they can operate to make it look normal again.
I believe she is no longer alive, but that does not mean the parents killed her. I do however think that the fiasco in Portugal was staged to make it look like a break in when actually there never was one.

Re: Dr Amaral's Defence Funds
Agreed, YG - from one sick troll to another!
Just a couple of minor points - we can't say if the divorce was wholly the result of the grief caused by this case and the responsibility for the dog incident is unknown.
Also, Madeleine would have been 12 last May.
I didn't know that colobomas could be corrected - if indeed that's what she had.

Link to fund
Anyone wanting to contribute to the fund and read the comments can find it here at this link:

I apologise if that is against the rules of this forum. Just thought people should be able to read for themselves what the so called 'Sick Trolls' have posted regarding this case. The £1,000 contribution was from a group of UK policemen who are outraged at how this man is being treated.

This link says colobomas can be corrected.
It was reported that Amaral had to divorce his wife so that his assets could be seized. The McCanns have never denied this.
The question is who bashed his dog's head in and why did they do that? Was it to put more stress on Mr Amaral?

Re: Dr Amaral's Defence Funds
That's fab news.
Just started a new topic that's been whooshed, which is not fab news.
It really doesn't matter. What does matter, is that we get this great forum back on track.
I'm sure everyone agrees on that.

PJGA Blogspot ANNOUNCEMENT - 'Sufficient'
October 21st 2015
Dear friends,
Since it was started on April 29, 2015, by Leanne Baulch, the gofundme page dedicated to Gonçalo Amaral's defence has collected donations in excess of 50 thousand pounds. These funds have been transferred to the bank account that is held by Dr Paulo Sargento and other friends of Mr Amaral. Less than half of this amount has been spent on legal expenses for the defence of Gonçalo Amaral.
The Paypal account that is associated to the bank account has received over 6 thousand euro during the same period. Donations totaling a smaller amount have also been made directly to the bank account.
We believe that it is time to close the gofundme page, as the bank account currently stands at an amount that seems largely sufficient to face eventual future expenses.
As we await the verdict of the Appellate Court of Lisbon on the appeal that has been filed by Mr Amaral's lawyer, the remaining funds will be kept in the bank account. They will be used if necessary in the future. Any unused funds will, as we stated in 2009, be donated to a Portuguese children's charity.
May we use this moment to wholeheartedly thank those who have expressed their support of Gonçalo Amaral's right to an appropriate defence? Whether you have contributed financially or by sending a support message - you have made an impact. You have made a difference.
Thank you so very, very much.
PLEASE NOTE:
Only the GoFundMe page will be closed on the 28th October, 2015.
The PJGA Donations page will still be available at http://PJGA.Blogspot.com
