Ok then - The Mc's were made Arguidos on the 7th of September. It was late when they left the Police Station.

So they didn't go to Clements house that eve then?

They went home on the 9th.

So it must of been the 8th then if indeed it happened at all. But that doesn't tally up with what Kate has said...

So this begs the question when did they go, or did they at all.....

But has this so-called invite, drinks and dinner ever been mentioned whilst Clement was alive...?

On the day the McCanns were formally made suspects in the investigation in September 2007, they had been due to go to dinner at Freud’s house again, but cancelled it.

Nevertheless, he rang them at 9.50pm that night to invite them for a drink, while warning them: “You’ll have to forgive my night-time attire.”


They were made arguidos on different days, Kate first then Gerry the next day IIRC, not on the same day, but both left the station very very late into the night.

The interview ended for Kate at 14:30pm on the 7th according to the files.

So if G was in the next day then I suppose they could of gone to see Clement on the eve of the 7th then?

It's on Sky now 1.16pm.

Just the basics and no mention of the McCanns.

Matthew Freud has cancelled his annual summer party, which was due to be held tonight, following his father Sir Clement's exposure as a paedophile.
Mr Freud, the 52-year-old founder of Freud Communications, has contacted guests to say he will no longer be holding the star-studded get-together, which would otherwise have been going on at the same time that ITV's Exposure documentary about Sir Clement's child abuse was being broadcast.
Mr Freud has a contacts book filled with celebrities, and guests at his previous parties have included Kate Moss, Idris Elba, Naomi Campbell, Tilda Swinton and Bob Geldof.

He has so far made no comment about the revelation that his father abused girls over a period spanning at least four decades.
His mother, Lady Freud, has apologised to Sir Clement's victims, saying she is "shocked, deeply saddened and profoundly sorry" for what he did to them.

Apologies for quoting my own post - but I cannot find anything that corroborates this alleged 'meet and greet'.

It appears we only have Kate McCanns word for it. And we all know how economical with the truth she is.

If anyone can find anything then stick a link up..

(also can someone who has the book confirm that it actually states that the Mc's AND THREE FRIENDS went over to Clement's - or has the 3 friends bit just come out today...)

I find this quite interesting. Madeleine disappeared in 2007, so the McCanns will have met with Clement Freud in the same year. Freud died less than two years later - in April 2009.  

According to this article in the Telegraph, Freud had been "on the radar" of child abuse charities even before his death.

I wonder how long before his death? Freud was 82 when he met the McCanns and 84 when he died. His reported paedophile activities date back quite some time before his death. So it seems fairly likely that he would have been on the child abuse charities' "radar" at the time he met the McCanns. So I'm surprised the world's most tragic parents – who had lost a very young daughter to a suspected paedophile in the most high-profile case of its kind – were never tipped the wink about meeting this elderly perve from any of their multitude of useful connections (including those cops who so kindly gave Gerry a bravery award). It's all a bit bizarre.

Matthew Freud fathered a child with his wife's friend 2 years before they divorced. Elizabeth, Rupert's daughter, was reported to be devastated. Their own daughters had played with the baby in their home.

M Freud closeness with Tony Blair caused problems with his father in law. Murdoch turned on Blair,once close enough for Blair to be Godfather for Rupert's youngest daughter, believing his wife Wendi to have a crush on Blair that contributed to their marriage ending.

Could Murdoch be somehow getting his revenge on the Freud's?
