We just heard five explosions coming from the direction of the supermarket... then the sirens started wailing in this part of Paris but so far we have not heard any gunfire, just five loud explosions.

Thank you very much Thetruth and candyfloss.
It was preferable to read factual info on here than listen to Jeremy & Kate on Sky

Re: Terrorist attacks in France
The station which reprimanded for showing police agents positioning themselves on the roof, BFM has just happily announced that they had called the brothers this morning and discussed calmly their motives and financing.
Coulibaly then called the station at 3pm and discussed calmly his project. He asked for the number of the police and BFM say they kept the police au courant.
I find this behavior by journalists to be highly irresponsible and astonishing.
Mais c'est la France.

Probably still busy with their 72 virgins.Begs the question where they find all those virgins and what happens to them after.
That aside it looks like the French police did a very good job in difficult circumstances.
I just wish the British police had done the same to Lee Rigbys killers.

Re: Terrorist attacks in France
So mobile phone networks were not closed down as was the case with 7/7- it would only have been useful in stopping the two brothers phoning the one in the supermarket. No doubt for that reason both locations had to be attacked at the same time.
Relieved it's over - the article in the Daily Mail was very good this morning mentioning the late great Dave Allen, who did the most outrageous religious parodies. But always said 'may your God go with you' .
Here, the government has just admitted they were aware the air space above the Ukraine was dangerous, however decided they did not need to pass it on to commercial airlines. Because they fly high - so that's really marvellous reasoning.
Right on top of that we've been assured that security related to terrorism has been strengthened but in suchna way that we won't notice. You can't make it up.

Re: Terrorist attacks in France
Nobody succeeded in calling their kids mobiles at the school near the printers, so I am sure they had turned the masts off. The French (aka we can do what we want, when we want) journos dialed a land line to speak to the brothers.
The guy in Vincennes called them in the afternoon and left the phone off the hook.
The president Normal has been on TV to say we will not give in (to what exactly?) and the prime minister followed up with a nothing to do with me guv statement.
The police knew all the attackers but could do nothing, before. Politics.
