Re: Terrorist attacks in France
Its a real shocker;a massive tragedy. Why the French and France? It appears to be an easy target?
I think it all stems from Charlie Hebdo,France represents everything ISIS hate...liberal,freethinking,apparently sexually at ease with itself with seemingly saucy attitude to morals .....politically they have been at the forefront of bombing attacks. Its all so sad! The two will never be reconciled! Will this abomination of people who are calling themselves Muslim and shaming their religion ever learn to live in peace?

So far 84 people dead and a lot wounded, 18 of which critically.

Yeah - it really is tragic. So sad indeed.
Another 54 people critical when I last looked earlier.

There's no suggestion that they were friends before the disappearance though, is there?
Regarding the failure of anybody to break ranks, I think many underestimate the capacity of TPTB to keep a lid on the flow of information to the media - including social media. I suspect that in the most sensitive cases even real time monitoring of social media might be employed. This week sees the anniversary of the Bataclan attack, around which some pretty lurid rumours circulate. Again I see the same comments made; if what is purported to have happened did actually occur then somebody would have spoken out, gone to the media etc. I'm guessing that if you are trying to get the truth "out there" then the media are the last channel you should consider.
Unreorganised - can you mention what rumours you heard about the bataclan attack as I never heard any. perhaps I live a sheltered life.

There is a Daily Mail link here. Don't read it if you are squeamish or easily upset.

Thankyou Unreorganised. I don't normally read the Daily Mail. Indeed horrible if true. But why not disclose it - surely media/govt want to let people know how evil ISIS is?

Well good question, although a discussion for another thread. What I found interesting were the comments, and TPTB's seeming ability to control the media to shape the narrative when they consider the stakes to be high enough.

I had never heard of this until now. For what it's worth - knowing now that Snopes is unreliable when it comes to important issues - the story has been debunked.

And from that very link :-
Had the French government opted to cover up acts of torture and emasculation at the venue, there was nothing stopping the vast majority of surviving witnesses from sharing their stories. None did."]
Which is kind of the point I was making. Like if any of the witnesses in the McCann case had been "leaned on", how would they ever get their story through a compliant media? This is the means by which large conspiracies are maintained.
