Re: Celebrity deaths
Not a recent death (2013) but another one hit wonder who, like Peter Skellern, also became a church minster.

Blink and you'll miss him - it is of course a typo for blind.
I actually have never heard of him. I knew about the earlier bomb at the World Trade Centre but didn't know who was responsible.

I've been listening too. He gave a long interview last week, a shock to hear how quickly it ended. Eddie Mair is a great interviewer/presenter.

I meant to say how quickly his life ended after the interview, just a few days.
Steve Hewlett also wrote a blog about his illness for the Observer. A brave man.

Don't know if this has been posted........I can't believe it was not on main news big style! Saturday evening(I think?)at 5ish we were allowed to have dinner/tea in front of television.....all pink panther and doctor who,but the one I couldn't wait for was the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Compared to most of the women who surrounded me .....she was from Mars.....but I never seen that....she was a woman who had a career, opprtunity and was funny with it. So farewell Mary....Ed .....Rhoda.......banana sandwiches and milk with the tv on never really got any better....

There are two posts about Mary on 25th January.
I don't think that I ever watched her show.

Re: Celebrity deaths
I have seen nearly all the films he has been in and yet I cannot place his face in them. Sad, only 61, died of complications after heart surgery.Freedom wrote:I haven't heard of this actor but I'm sure that someone here will have.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Blimey - that's a shocker about Bill Paxton. He's been involved in some great films over the years.
My personal favourite one of his was 'A Simple Plan'. Brilliant film.
RIP.
And RIP to the tall chap as well. I've never heard of him to be fair.

Re: Celebrity deaths
In my minds eye Tommy Gemmill had false teeth if i remember correctly....always had them out for the game..
It is likely Gerry will be shedding a tear for Tommy as he is, along with his family,a big Celtic bhoy!!

Re: Celebrity deaths
The one I remember with false teeth was Nobby Stiles.

I have to admit to never having heard of Tommy Gemmill.

Re: Celebrity deaths
At last his funeral can now go ahead. I can't remember any cases like this where there has been such a delay when the cause of death has been ruled as not suspicious.

Re: Celebrity deaths
John Surtees was 83, born in 1934. His son Henry was 18 when he died in freakish circumstances in 2009, so JS was 57 when he was born. Probably why I always wrongly assumed he was his grandson.
