Re: Facebook news
I've discovered that it's happened with about a dozen pages so far. What a wide variety of interests I supposedly have.

Re: Facebook news
Please could any Facebook members check to see if it's down for them - or is it just me?

Touch wood, I haven't seen any of the "say amen or you're a hater" nonsense for ages now.
You can opt out of seeing those awful pictures and videos. I hate them too. But rather than unfriend someone, there's a drop down menu top right hand corner that says something like unfollow this person or don't see images like this. I never see anything like that now.
I know people need to raise awareness for the plight of these poor creatures but when it's happening in places like China there's not a lot I can do about it so would rather not see it.

Is there any practical difference though between unfriending and unfollowing someone?

Re: Facebook news
I just found that follow/unfollow today. It's great.
You can unfollow relatives without unfriending them I've unfollowed about a dozen or so thisevening.
You don't see their posts and don't have to explain why you you friended them if you just unfollow. It's not comfortable doing that especially if you have relations like mine

Re: Facebook news
I've unfriended a few people and I doubt if they've even noticed! Some people have dozens so wouldn't notice if one disappears.
I have occasionally been a bit miffed when I've sent a friend request to someone and they have blocked me from asking again!

Re: Facebook news
Please could someone who's on Facebook check to see if the facility to click on the right hand side of a post or topic - and then to remove or report it - has gone.
I am really hoping that this is a temporary glitch as not being able to remove offensive material - and even to go back into my own posts to edit them - is a major problem.

Re: Facebook news
I've just seen that on some posts at least the option is there but it's been moved from the top right hand side to the bottom!
That's certainly better than nothing.
At the moment with the continuing infernal heat, I can't tell the bottom from the top either.

You can't. You'll have to learn Italian instead.

At the end of the bar at the top, there is a drop down menu. Select setting and it will show you the language on there. Hope it works!

Re: Facebook news
There are times when people's ignorance and stupidity get me down!
This hoax reappears from time to time with the predictable response from knuckle-dragging Neanderthals.

It is actually quite frightening, not that they fell for it in the first place but that they ignore the proof supplied that it's a hoax and they continue to threaten death and destruction to poor old Professor Q.

Re: Facebook news
I've encountered what I call poppy wearing fascists on Facebook; those who insist that everyone should wear one and those who don't are at best disrespectful and at worst foreign scum who shouldn't be in the country.
Many people did agree with me that it's not up to others to decide what the rest of should do but alas the usual knuckle-dragging pitch-forkers also popped up to sprout their bile.

Hahaha. You will join me in celebrating the defeat of fascism - or else!
Some people just have no idea how stupid they are.

Re: Facebook news
The topic started about a newsreader not wearing a poppy and the gist of some of the comments was Sack The Bitch.
I'd never heard of her before but I now know that this is something that's been going on for several years.

Thank goodness that I don't have to deal with so many intolerant people in real life as I do on the Internet!

I would like to hear other people's opinions on this one. In case it can't be accessed, it's a "joke" about a woman who objected to something her husband said and hit him so severely that he couldn't see for days.
Now I hope that those of you who are rolling about on the floor hysterically laughing won't have difficulty getting back up again.
My point is what would the reaction be if it was a man who'd hit a woman?
I can joke about very serious subjects at times - I don't know how anyone survives without a sense of humour - but any kind of physical violence is not one of those subjects.
I have stated my views on Facebook, mentioning that I have known people trapped in domestic violence situations and, while some people have agreed, most are saying how hilarious the joke is.
Am I being a humourless mad old bat? I will accept a majority verdict on the question!
The "joke" I referred to before has resurfaced and so far it has been called hilarious. I'll copy it.
"Bob left work one Friday evening.
But it was payday, so instead of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend partying with his mates and spending his entire wages.
When he finally appeared at home on Sunday night, he was confronted by his angry wife and was barraged for nearly two hours with a tirade befitting his actions. Finally his wife stopped the nagging and said to him, “How would you like it if you didn’t see me for two or three days?”
He replied, “That would be fine with me.”
Monday went by and he didn’t see his wife.
Tuesday and Wednesday came and went with the same results.
But on Thursday, the swelling went down just enough where he could see her a little out of the corner of his left eye".

Re: Facebook news
Not heard that joke before but I found it quite funny.
But I can imagine the uproar if it was the other way round though.
