Re: Funding requests for Operation Grange
According to Textusa there was a small piece in the paper version of the sun that funding had been granted, any one see it?
Brought over from there.

Paper edition of The Sun on Sunday:
MADDIE COPS IN FUNDING BOOST
Sunday, September 30, 2018
By Michael Hamilton
Cops on the Madeleine McCann probe have been given an extra £150,000 after telling the Home Office of a new line of inquiry.
The funding came as speculation mounted that the investigation into the 2007 disappearance would be shelved.
But The Sun on Sunday can reveal the extra cash had already been rubber-stamped by officials. It could extend the investigation, which has already cost £11.6 million, by six months.
A source said: “The funding was actually agreed before this week’s announcement about the application for money. It was signed off after detectives said they were pursuing a new, viable line of inquiry. The Government agreed because of that.
“it is hoped it will bring some sort of closure. Everyone would like this wrapped up and to end the mystery.”
It is unclear whether the fresh inquiry line stems from a sighting or new intelligence.
Madeleine was three when she vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal.
Last night a spokesman for parents Kate and Gerry, of Rothley, Leics, said that they “remain incredibly grateful to the officers working on the case.”

Madeleine McCann search to CARRY ON even after official cash gone
By Jerry Lawton, Crime Correspondent / Published 4th October 2018
SCOTLAND YARD appeared to be footing the bill for the Madeleine McCann search last night as official cash dried up.
The Metropolitan Police probe into the youngster's 2007 disappearance has been financed by special government grants for seven years.
The latest ran out on Sunday. Police chiefs have asked the Home Office for more, but are carrying on the investigation without knowing if they will get it.
The probe has already cost £11.6million.
In a tearful BBC Radio 4 interview at the weekend Madeleine's dad Gerry, 50, spoke of the importance of the inquiry to his family.
He said he and wife Kate were "extremely grateful" police were still trying to find their daughter, who vanished on Portugal's Algarve aged three.
He said Portuguese cops let them down in a "devastating" failure.
A Met Police spokesman said: "We are currently in dialogue with the Home Office regarding future funding."
A Home Office official said: "The application is still being considered."

Antonia wrote:The costs of Operation Grange are mainly the salary costs of the police involved. They are permanent staff and their salaries will be paid anyway.
The question is, are the police involved about to be given other ( AND MUCH MORE USEFUL) duties? If they are not redeployed, then by default, until they are, funding has been extended.
They must have a pretty good idea about what happened, imo. Probably did from relatively early on. So what have they been doing for all these years? Is the joke still on us, or what?

Re: Funding requests for Operation Grange
Can they really say "We can't solve this case" after they spent nearly £12 million?
I'm afraid they are taking the easy way out of this and conclude she wandered off and there was a hit & run accident, she went up in smoke like Needham and the driver is dead, cadaver odour came from Kate's work and the blood from nosebleed.
I hope I'm wrong.

Worth a listen tomorrow. I agree totally with Sonia, the police must finish the job. No way would a cover up be allowed to go on so long. The public are getting restless and angry, yet still Op Grange continues, there must be a very good reason why!

People are REALLY angry about more money being given to the Madeleine #McCann police investigation. I get it. Totally understand. Which is why I welcome the chance to join Nick Ferrari on LBC around 8.50am tomorrow to explain why the police have to be allowed to finish the job.

By the time I tuned in it was over! Was it ok. This is a comment from twitter...
@SoniaPoulton
Great interview with Nick Ferrari this morning on the new funding for the McCanns. I felt that it wasn't long enough however you managed to 'pack' a lot into the time allotted. Well done you.

They do know what happened in my opinion. I think they also know what happened in the Ben Needham case. I presume that cases sometimes only get solved when it is safe to do so, for whatever reasons - political, financial, someone has died, enough time has passed for it to be less embarrassing etc.
Impossible to know what the 'end game' is with the McCann case. It is of interest I think that one of the last times Gerry McCann was in the news it was in the context of mental health. Rather disingenuously the specific area of mental health appeared to be the father-daughter bond and the impact on fathers when that bond is traumatically severed (or words to that effect.)
I think there is very little evidence of a strong bond between Gerry and Madeleine. However I think both Gerry and his odious brother were positively evangelical about The Fund.
If Dr Amaral is right, then surely this is a relatively straightforward case of fraud? It wouldn't be the first time in history that parents or family have sought to make financial gain from a missing child.
IMO!

Dear @MetPolice
Save the £150k and go and ask Leicester police why they ignored the specialist dog 'findings' in the Madeleine #McCann case. While your at it, find out why Birmingham Forensics changed their mind about the "100% match" to Madeleine they initially reported.

This is what he wrote on twitter yesterday after people were complaining about funding for Op Grange. Of course this has nothing to do with wanting any publicity for a tour starting soon.....

Oh dear. Madeleine McCann trending. That's twitterspeak for "And now, the absolute worst of humanity."

I liked him until now!
He's entitled to believe the McCanns (someone has to) but how I dislike others with a different view being insulted.
Mind you, that's typical of most McCann supporters - attack is the only form of defence.

I doubt he believes the McCann story - think he's just creating a twitter-storm and getting some publicity. It's quite clever, really, because I would imagine that the McCanns dread any publicity at all because public opinion has gone 360 degrees. Every time their names are mentioned it generates negative reactions from the public. I really do feel quite sorry for their children though.
Their hubris was their downfall as it always would be I suppose. I am convinced they were stooges of some sort - they would have been the perfect candidates for it as they loved the limelight but are quite dim.
IMO!

Re: Funding requests for Operation Grange
In any event, one has to ask who 'the very worst of humanity' refers to?
The entire world apart from the McCanns and their friends who might have been 'the abductor/s?'
Or the McCanns and their friends/aquaintances who are apparently the only people in the world who cannot possibly be 'the abductor/s?'
The more you think about it, the more absurd this case become. The expression to give someone enough rope to hang him or herself springs to mind.

Thanks for the link to the programme Lee.
David Baddiel is the pits - yuk, never liked him. This is typical of him.
As regards Nick Ferrari, he posed an excellent question:-
"What are Operation Grange doing all day?"
Anyone got any ideas?

Perhaps just perhaps they are doing their job, investigating MBMs disappearance. I have never known another case where the police have been expected to reveal the minutiae of their daily work. It's not the telly these things don't get sorted out in an hour, less ad breaks

Two cannibals are eating David Baddiel.
One turns to the other and asks "Does this taste funny to you?"
The other one thinks for a moment, and replies "No. No it doesn't."

PMR - well it's taken rather longer than an hour. How many years is it ?
I wish Peter still visited here so he could tell us what Grange do from day to day.
Perhaps they're waiting for a paedophile to die so they can hang it on him.
They could have gone through the case a hundred times over by now and interviewed nearly every person in Portugal !
It's almost as if they're waiting for something.
