Well it has taken them 7 whole years to work this out. THEY QUESTIONED MARTIN NEY in 2012!!!!!

Child killer vows: I didn’t take Madeleine McCann
PUBLISHED: PUBLISHED: 00:00, Sun, Feb 26, 2012
Today we can reveal that Scotland Yard has been in contact with German detectives questioning Martin Ney, 41.
It follows our disclosure last May that Ney looks very like the photofit of a man seen acting suspiciously hours before Madeleine vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal in May 2007.
The photofit was drawn up by a woman who saw a man leaving the rear of the next-door apartment. She said he very “quietly” closed the gate and looked around nervously to see if he was being watched. The photofit was published in Kate McCann’s best-selling book, Madeleine.
When we asked the Yard why officers were interested in Ney, it issued a terse statement saying: “We are not prepared to discuss it.”
Ney, who faces life in prison, claims he is not guilty of a series of other child murders across Europe. According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, he would be familiar with the Algarve coastline having travelled to Portugal in the mid-Nineties.
German police have been in contact with Scotland Yard. We think he had a sexual interest only in boys
Kai Thomas Breas
British detectives are believed to be interested in Ney’s communications in internet chat rooms in which he used the nickname Gerd X. Although Ney claims his last child murder was in 2002, they found a posting by him in March last year which said: “Gerd X moves on to the next boy.”
In a 2002 posting he bragged: “I bought a camouflage suit to jump out of the bushes in children’s playgrounds if a beautiful boy goes past.”
The softly spoken youth worker was free to kill for 20 years. His first victim was Stefan Jahrd, 13, in 1992. Three years later he murdered Dennis Rostel, eight. Six years after that he snatched nine-year-old Dennis Kleinfrom.
Kai Thomas Breas, spokesman for the German prosecutors, told the Sunday Express: “He has said he hasn’t killed in Portugal.
“German police have been in contact with Scotland Yard. We think he had a sexual interest only in boys.”

Child killer vows: I didn’t take Madeleine McCann
A PREDATORY German paedophile who will be sentenced tomorrow for abducting and murdering three boys has denied he is behind other child crimes, including the abduction of Madeleine McCann.

Re: Tabloid Rags: Various inane stories
We know that media articles regarding this case is nonsense but what's a bit scary about this is that Goncalo Amaral seems to had inside information from PJ about this otherwise he would not have been so precise that it was about a German.
“Detectives are preparing the end of the investigation, with a German paedophile who is in prison right now.”
And it's also a coincidence that they have a new suspect at the same time they are asking for more money.
I wonder how much pressure the British authorities still make on Portugal?

It is interesting that Amaral said they would try and frame a german man...but is it possible it is a different man and team Mc. have just jumped on Amaral's words as an opportunity to spin some stories?
It would be pretty difficult to pin M's disappearance on a sexual predator interested exclusively in boys! Older ones at that. Is it possible they put the patsy stories out in the press to see how the public respond? If the public don't buy it they can move on and try another. Honestly, I don't quite know what to think with Amaral saying they would do this.

Snr Amaral did say that it was someone alive and in prison in Germany - I don't know if anyone else fits that description.

He did but it's not a very good fit for a patsy is it? Not the kind that would stick as he likes boys exclusively. I could see them trying to imply he was connected to a gang though and then it becomes a mystery, the people in the gang dead or untraceable.

Re: Tabloid Rags: Various inane stories
How ridiculous. The usual tripe. The man that was seen acting suspiciously at a gate near the apartment on Thursday afternoon was described in detail by Mrs Fenn’s niece who get a good view of him as she was sitting on the terrace of her Aunt’s apartment which was above the McCanns. She described a man who was blond of Scandinavian appearance. In Kate’s book she morphs this sighting with another sighting - I think the Jensen sisters’ sighting - and the e-fit shows a very dark man of perhaps North African appearance. The Jensen sisters sighting was of two blond men, I do believe. They saw them acting suspiciously on the balcony of nearby empty apartment 5C. Their sighting was ignored to the extent that they travelled back to Luz months later but by then the McCanns were made arguido. There are no e-fits of blond men in Kate’s book, despite these two separate and reliable, IMO, sightings. Notice how TM have always insisted that ‘the abductor’ was dark and swarthy. Why have these two sightings been ignored? I’d say that one if not two of the potential suspects in this case were men with blond hair. The emphasis on dark swarthy men I presume is a deliberate distraction.
IMO! This case has gone from the ridiculous to the absurd.

Re: Tabloid Rags: Various inane stories
It is also on police record that Jez Wilkins, in his first police statement, claims that he saw a blond man with ‘rasta’ hair acting suspiciously at around 7.30pm that evening. The man was apparently identified later as a fellow guest at OC and was ruled out for this reason I think it was claimed plus that he had been tireless in his searches for Madeleine. The other blond man from OC who was also out searching for Madeleine on Thursday evening was the OC tennis coach who one of the Tapas males saw in his car that night apparently with another person who he says he couldn’t identify. This of course might be completely innocent but in the context of the blond man or men sightings surely this is worth further investigation? The tennis coach is a vital witness because apparently Kate and Gerry had a couple’s tennis session on Thursday afternoon. If, as Dr Amaral claims, the couple had something to do with Madeleine’s disappearance, then their behaviour on Thursday might have provided some clues as to what might have happened and when. This was also a departure from their routine that week which I think must make it worthy of further investigation. I wonder if the tennis coach was asked about a blue sports’ bag?

Once more @TheSun selectively quotes from a balanced piece of journalism. Mr. Amaral said that the German was being targeted as a ’scapegoat’. Yet if you read their ‘exclusive’ (which I refuse to link to) he is presented as a viable suspect. Why do they keep distorting like this?

If Martin Ney is the guy I believe Amaral referred to, he was interviewed 7 years ago and denied any involvement.
And it would be very strange if the German detectives didn't checked his alibi and where he was in late April/May 2007.
It looks like some information in this "new" line of PJ's investigation came from the dutch guy Peter Scharrenberg who has written books about the case.
It's known he had deep contacts with Helena Monterio and handed over "new information" in the case.
I've not read his books but I understand him as he don't believe in the abduction scenario, maybe someone here has more info?

Media should go to a source before they publish their articles and according to Brunt in Portugal the PJ follows two leads.
One of them is a German guy and the other lead is another theory, "sensitive" and "a long way from Portugal."

Carole Tranmer saw a blond man
The child killer resembles a man seen acting suspiciously outside Maddie’s apartment by tourist Carole Tranmer on the day the child was snatched.
No he does not. The man that Carole saw was very blond, light skinned, not bronzed and of Scandinavian or British appearance. In her statement, Carole repeats that the man she saw was blond or very blond and light or very light with no suntan at least seven times. Her description does not match the e-fit in Kate's book nor does it match the photo of the child killer.
According to Carole in her police statement, the man she saw was: "Blonde, with a lot of hair, very short, not like mine but a little more, humm... but not like a footballer, do you know what I mean' A style close to shaven. Very short, blonde, the head was very sculptured. The shape of the head was very sculptured, more oval shaped.
"I believe I saw him wearing a blue-grey T-shirt, it was not dark blue, more of a pallid colour and it was, humm... a type of blue with short sleeves, humm... but I did not see anything below, I did not see the trousers or shoes or anything else, only the top part and he would have, I would say 'humm, when looking from above, he was not short, I would say he was about a 1'78, about medium height. He was not thing nor was he muscular. So he was of average stature. I would say he was European but not Portuguese. He was not dark and, he was not short, but I would say that he looked Scandinavian if you will, because he was very light and could have been British or Scandinavian. Even though I was looking upwards, he had big eyes, there is nothing else. He did not have tattoos, nothing like this, humm'a person of common appearance, it was his furtiveness that called my attention, humm, no, I can't'
"I would say that he was between, oh he was not old, 30 to 35, I don't believe that he was older than this.
"He was light-skinned, he had no freckles, he was not sunburned, he was not dark, nor bronzed from the sun, he was a light colour, not white, white but you know'humm..he was not one who was exposed to the sun......I did not see any jewellery, no, no he did not have necklaces or rings and as far as I could tell, he did not have earring....it was a common shirt, without inscriptions, it was light blue in colour, or grey, it could have been grey, mmm. It went up to the neck and had sleeves, short sleeves, but not straps, of this type, just short sleeves.....It was not snug, it was not loose, it was comfortable.......He was well-shaven......He was very blonde. .....He did not have sunglasses, nor did he wear spectacles.

Re: Tabloid Rags: Various inane stories
Madeleine McCann case will be SOLVED by 'confession', says top Brit detective
A TOP detective on the Madeleine McCann disappearance expects the case to be solved in his lifetime by a "confession".
Published 18th May 2019
Jim Gamble was the UK’s top child protection police officer in the UK and heavily involved in the initial search for Maddie.
She disappeared from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, on the evening of May 3, 2007.
British and Portuguese police afterwards launched an enormous operation, but the desperate hunt continues 12 years later.
Mr Gamble believes that police are currently pursuing vital leads and that a vital witness will eventually come forward.
He told Daily Star Online: “I genuinely believe that either a prompt to someone’s conscience or the advances in modern technology will take us to a point in my lifetime where we find out what happened to Madeleine.
“I absolutely believe that. If this involves an abductor, someone will have seen something.
“Someone will have suspected something and for personal loyalty perhaps, a relationship, or whatever else – the fact that they’ve been unsure, they’ll have kept that to themselves.
“But as time goes on, relationships change and people who’ve done things have life changing experiences that make them feel the need to tell. I think that can happen.
“But I also think there are advances in technology could also lead us down a different path and that might be what breaks the case.”
Cops are currently probing 13 suspects all seen acting suspiciously in and around the resort of Praia da Luz in Portugal before and after the youngster vanished.
One is feared to have carried out up to 28 sex attacks on other children within a 40-mile radius of the apartment from which then-three-year-old Madeleine went missing.
Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry marked their daughter’s 16th birthday last week by leaving presents in her bedroom – in the hope she’ll one day return to open them.
They also left a heart-warming message to their daughter, reading: “We love you and we’re waiting for you and we’re never going to give up.”
It is thought they have kept Maddie’s bedroom unchanged so that she can return to it one day, exactly as it was left.
The birthday wish was accompanied by one of the last pics of the tot, beaming from beneath a sun hat while holidaying with her parents.

Someone called Jamie apparently - that narrows it down!
I'm just reading the bit about Ben Needham - it's news to me that his uncle Stephen (who was 17 not 19) ever made any such admissions under hypnosis.
