The case of Amber Peat

Sorry but this doesn't wear well with me. Amber either committed suicide or she met her tragic end some other way, I am keeping my options open here. Just my thoughts as ever.

The Daily Star also said that no family members were present. 

 "The external examination and the presence of a ligature mark around the neck, in my opinion, is most likely due to hanging."

Did they not find the actual ligature then or what... 

Just seems a bit odd imo.

If there was no ligature found, then something is seriously amiss.

Let's hope that the truth, whatever it is, comes out when the inquest resumes.

In my opinion, there is a lot to come out about this family's circumstances.

I don't see how Amber's natural father is in any position to criticise what he has supposedly heard from Social Services if it is true that he hadn't even seen her for 3 years.

I am assuming that was by choice and not because he was banned from doing so.

Am I reading this right - that Danny (the stepfather) has split from Kelly ?

It says in the article that he is now living elsewhere.

I don't think that this will come as a surprise to anyone.

I wasn't worried about Danny Peat's fraud conviction but another one for starving a rabbit to death filled me with horror and made me wonder what else he might be capable of.

The look on her face in the photo that was released when she disappeared says it all. I remember we commented on it at the time - there was very deep resentment and fear and unhappiness on her face... and now we know why.

Really is so sad.

I have a feeling that there's still more to come out in all this.

"I've got my answers and still I've had to fight to even speak to my other daughter.
Crazy that after 3 years of looking that I find amber has hung herself over a cool box!
No as her mother is making things hard for me its now my turn as I think it's disgusting that she still keeps my other daughter away from me.
Facts not fiction & certainly not an opinion.
1. Social services investigated the household last year bit they moved!
2. Amber had previously asked for me but no contact nothing.
3. Danny removed for neglect & sevear punishment week after amber found.
4. Child protection order in place.
5. Ambers surname is pick ford as I'm her farther & I'm on birth certificate yet have no parental rights.
6. Social services are ducking idiots.
7. There you go amber your voice is public

The local newspaper seems a bit upset at the Daily Mail article.   Puts their town in a poor light apparently !   Their personal feelings are nothing compared to Amber's sad life and death, so I think this is an astonishing.

Today a national newspaper has once again put Mansfield in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, speculating upon the reasons for tragic Amber Peat’s death.

The Chad has received a number of questions as to why? Why would the press do this to Amber and her family? Why would the right-wing national press guess at what might have contributed to the death of one of our own?

To our readers, the people of Mansfield and to Amber’s family, The Chad would like to answer those questions by stating categorically that we are not like the national press, and your Chad will not be speculating on what may or may not have contributed to the passing of a beautiful little girl.

Nottinghamshire County Council has confirmed that a Serious Case Review is under way. A file is also being prepared for Nottinghamshire’s Coroner. Nobody should believe a word anyone says until this due process is complete.

Of course, Chad has a duty as the town’s newspaper of record to publish the findings of the inquest. We will do so as sensitively as we possibly can, when the time is right. Ensuring Amber’s achievements and contributions to her community are celebrated.

But The Chad also has a duty to stand up for the people of this town. With that, our Editorial Director James Mitchinson will be writing personally to the editor of the national newspaper in question to ask him why he has allowed such a scurrilous article to cause so much upset in our town.

It is your patch, your people, they know the full story, why not find it and tell it.

It is the same with the McCann case and the Leicester Mercury Peter.

Zero investigative journalism on what is arguably the biggest missing child case in history. Why?

It's so dreadful isn't it DFM. It seems she contacted Derbyshire CC herself (just think how bad things were that Amber contacted the council herself), shocking lack of care there.

Then she moved to Nottingham, which is a differ CC, so she was lost from the records and no follow up done. !

Poor, poor child. As you say "lessons to be learned", yeah right.

I read that yesterday and not to sure what to make of it to be honest.

He didn't go to her funeral.
