The case of Mary Bell
25 years before James Bulger, there was this case involving two children attacking others, killing two of them.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
It was a bit before your time and didn't get anything like the publicity that the James Bulger case did.
There was a lot of shock though that a girl of such a young age could kill two small boys.
There was controversy when Mary was released from prison after 12 years and given a life time's anonymity - that's similar to the Bulger killers - though she, as far as is known, has never committed any further crimes.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
I'm not sure about this one. I don't think there can be any doubt that Mark Chapman was mentally ill when he killed John Lennon.
If he is no longer a danger to himself or anyone else, I think that he should be released.
The same goes for Sirhan Sirhan who shot Robert Kennedy.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
45 years and counting for Sirhan. He'll never get out. Neither will Chapman, IMO.
Anyway Sirhan was stitched up and under some Government Mind-Control drugs or something... If you believe the Conspiracy stuff floating about from what I read years ago.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
For some reason, the conspiracy theories about the RFK assassination never took hold in the way that they did for JFK.
There were suggestions that another gun was fired but I wonder if it belonged to a security agent and went off accidentally in all the confusion.
There is a theory (believable compared with some of the others) that it was a stray bullet from a secret serviceman that was the fatal from the front shot that killed JFK.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
I'll add this case here as it also involved a young child convicted of killing another. He was until the Bulger killers the youngest person to be convicted of murder.

Reconstruction of the Bali Policeman Murder
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3766079/Sara-Connor-David-Taylor-mime-kiss-Bali-reconstruction.html
Snipped:
An Australian woman and her British DJ boyfriend have been forced to re-enact the night they allegedly murdered a police officer on a beach in Bali.
Sara Connor, a mother-of-two from Byron Bay, and Brit David James Taylor who is believed to have been living in Australia, were escorted in orange jumpsuits back to Bali's Kuta Beach just after 4am on Wednesday, two weeks since the bloodied body of police officer Wayan Sudarsa was found covered in sand on August 17.
The pair have been named as murder suspects but under Indonesian law have not been formally charged. Police have 120 days to build their case and the purpose of the re-enactment was to determine which of the tourists is 'telling the truth and who is not'.
Ms Connor, 45, and Mr Taylor, 34, have told police different versions of events about what happened on the night Mr Sudarsa was killed and their stories keep changing.

Another one I've never heard of.
I shall try to get past the irritating "toy boy lover" headline and read it all.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
It only happened a couple of weeks ago if that.
Was in the news a lot at the time. Probably because the chap is British and it happened in a foreign country.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
Imagine the McCanns and the Tapas bunch being made to do a reconstruction cuffed and wearing prison attire.
I reckon all those 'discrepancies and contradictions' would of been very quickly ironed out.....

http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/tv-couple-who-drugged-baby-8761277
A TV presenter drugged her four-month-old baby with cocaine by breastfeeding her after a wild party.
Krystin Lisaius, 26, and her husband Somchai Lisaius, 42, could face two years in prison after the young mum gave her daughter breast milk 12 hours after taking cocaine .
The American presenters from Arizona were charged in April but have only just pleaded guilty to endangering their baby. They both face up to two years in jail.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
Saw the headline and immediately thought the baby could have been smothered sleeping with parents (accidently).
Seems not though.
How could the mother have gone back to bed after if she is guilty, hard to understand. ??

Saw the family's lawyer on tv telling us what good parents they are and how much they cared for the child -
What about possession, taking drugs, child endangerment ? I note they have a 'plea deal'.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
So she is the family breadwinner, they have a 2 year old and a five month old on holiday in a gite, which sounds like hard work.
Just from that my sympathy leans towards the mother. Says she was "exhausted" (not surprising), arguments with husband (not surprising)
Maybe she is suffering from postnatal depression as well.

Re: Miscellaneous Criminal Cases
How has the issue of alleged neglect arisen - she was after all in the house with her children.
However, if it was only down to the efforts of a six-year-old that most of the family survived, I can't help but wonder if she was under the influence of drink or drugs at the time.
