The headline is misleading - an open verdict was returned, not suicide.

This seems to be a lesser version (in terms of the number of victims) of mass suicide in religious cults.

This is a dreadful story. I have to ask though - why did her mother wait for 3 days before getting the police round there? They would have gone immediately if they'd been told about the text message and the child in the house.

If the grandmother had acted immediately, the police might have got there in time to save her daughter and get her the help she needed and of course the little girl would have been spared such an awful ordeal.

This one was originally thought to be an accident - a boiler explosion - but it may now be something else. I don't think there can be any doubt who the arrested couple are.

This is a strange case - I was imagining the horror of being dragged into the pool's pumping system but this doesn't appear to be what happened.

Re: Accidents/deaths - unusual, bizarre or just plain awful
I think we've mentioned this case before but I can't find where.

A strange case. If the grandfather did this deliberately - and that is hard to believe - would a sentence of only 3 years be appropriate?

A terrible reminder of what can happen when children are left unattended.
