Re: The "number 1 suspect" Christian B
Doesn't this new suspect deserve its own thread?
The Met have to justify their latest round of funding...
So suspicious - he had a mobile telephone call with an unnamed person for 30 minutes on the evening Maddy (officially) disappeared. OMG, this suspect must have done it especially as he's obviously not a nice man as he is in prison now.

The unusually defeatist statement from the parents speaks volumes for me.
This is a significant development, in my opinion.

I'm wondering how long they've had those vehicles for. They're both quite old, hard to believe they were still on the road and have only just been rounded up.
It's strange that this man never really comes up even anecdotally in all the many words written about this case. There is very little if any mention of a transient German in the released files. You would think if he had such a profile locally somebody would have fingered him at the time.

This is no Ben Needham style hatchet job. This man is alive and presumably won't just lightly admit to involvement in the crime of the century. There's a good chance this man is responsible, in my opinion. The appeal for information from the Police is extremely specific.
I know a lot of people in our sphere have a lot invested emotionally in certain outcomes but we need to look at this as dispassionately as we can. There still remain plenty of questions to be asked in other directions.

Madeleine McCann 'assumed dead' by German prosecutors

Madeleine McCann is "assumed to be dead" say German prosecutors, who are investigating the disappearance of the British girl.
A 43-year-old German man is being investigated on suspicion of murder, the German public prosecutor added.
The suspect, who has not been named, is currently in prison.
He is believed to have been in the area where Madeleine was last seen, when she disappeared as a three-year-old in Portugal in 2007.
Police are appealing for the public's help in solving the case, after they announced they had a new suspect on Wednesday.
Madeleine's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, felt the latest development was "potentially very significant", the family's spokesman said.
Clarence Mitchell, who has represented the family since the three-year-old's disappearance, said that in 13 years he couldn't "recall an instance when the police had been so specific about an individual".
He told BBC Breakfast: "Of all the thousands of leads and potential suspects that have been mentioned in the past, there has never been something as clear cut as that from not just one, but three, police forces."
The Met Police, who are working with German and Portuguese police, said the case remained a "missing persons" investigation because it does not have "definitive evidence" as to whether Madeleine is alive or not.
However, German investigators - who are due to give an update later - have classed it as a murder inquiry.
"There is reason to assume that there are other persons, apart from the suspect, who have concrete knowledge of the course of the crime and maybe also of the place where the body was left," said German police.
Image copyright POLICE HANDOUT Image caption The man is linked to a house between Praia da Luz and Lagos, and another inland Image copyright POLICE HANDOUT Image caption Police released pictures showing the interior of one house believed to be linked to the suspect
The suspect, who is not being named because of German court privacy rules, has been described as white with short blond hair and about 6ft (1.8m) tall with a slim build at the time.
Police have also released photos of two vehicles - a VW camper van and a Jaguar car - which are believed to be linked to the man, as well as a house in Portugal.
The day after Madeleine vanished in 2007, the suspect transferred the Jaguar to someone else's name.
On Wednesday, Germany's federal criminal police office (BKA) - which is leading this stage of the case - said the man was serving a jail sentence in Germany for a sex crime.
He has "numerous" previous convictions for "sexual abuse of children", the office added.
Madeleine went missing shortly before her fourth birthday from an apartment in Praia da Luz on the evening of 3 May 2007, while her parents were with friends at a nearby tapas bar.
Her disappearance sparked a huge and costly police hunt across much of Europe - the most recent Metropolitan Police investigation, which began in 2011, has cost more than £11m.
And appealing to the public for details about the suspect, he added: "Some people will know the man we are describing today, the suspect in our investigation. I'm appealing to you directly.
"You may know, you may be aware of some of the things he has done. He may have confided in you about the disappearance of Madeleine.
"More than 13 years have passed and your loyalties may have changed.
"This individual is in prison and we are conscious that some people may have been concerned about contacting police in the past. Now is the time to come forward."
German police said the suspect is thought to have worked jobs including as a waiter, but also committed burglaries in hotels and holiday resorts and dealt drugs.
Christian Hoppe, from the German police, said the suspect may have broken into an apartment before spontaneously kidnapping Madeleine.
The joint appeal from the British, German and Portuguese police includes a £20,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person responsible of Madeleine's disappearance.
He told the BBC News Channel the "circumstantial evidence" that had been shared by the police made the new suspect a "really significant person of interest".
He said he believed the man "came to light a number of years ago" but was only being made public now because it was a "painstaking" process which began from "a point of chaos" after the initial investigation had been "bungled".
Is this the breakthrough? Is this German prisoner the man who can unlock the mystery?
It certainly has the feel of a significant development - police have used those very words.
Evidence, according to detectives, places the man near the scene; the re-registering of his car the next day is undoubtedly suspicious.
And his criminal record, disclosed by the German police, is a disturbing guide as to what his motivations might have been.
But... there have been so many false trails in the case before - clues, sightings and suspects that led nowhere.
Three years ago, during the last major police appeal, Scotland Yard said it was working on one final "critical" line of inquiry.
Now, we're told there's another one. That may explain why Met detectives - who've been involved in the case for nine years - are being rather more cautious than their German counterparts.
In a statement, the McCanns, from Rothley in Leicestershire, welcomed the appeal: "We would like to thank the police forces involved for their continued efforts in the search for Madeleine.
"All we have ever wanted is to find her, uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice.
"We will never give up hope of finding Madeleine alive, but whatever the outcome may be, we need to know as we need to find peace."
Police said the suspect was one of 600 people that detectives on the UK inquiry, known as Operation Grange, originally looked at, though he had not been a suspect.
After a 10-year anniversary appeal in 2017, "significant" fresh information about him was provided.
Since then, Met detectives have carried out "extensive inquiries" in Portugal and Germany to gather more details about him.
The force said it was trying to "prove or disprove" his involvement in the case and retained an "open mind".
Those with information can contact the Operation Grange incident room on 020 7321 9251.

'Dare to hope'

He said he believed the man "came to light a number of years ago" but was only being made public now because it was a "painstaking" process which began from "a point of chaos" after the initial investigation had been "bungled".

Pat Brown's thoughts on this particular video.
What a load of tosh. How can the Germans label the disappearance of Madeleine McCann a murder investigation without a body or a confession? And now we are supposed to again believe that this man broke into the apartment without leaving a trace, was a burglar who stole nothing, accidentally killed the child in the apartment, hid the child temporarily behind a sofa, was not seeing carrying off the child, and somehow all the evidence that does exist points away from a burglar or a pedophile. And, so far what connects the man? He made a phone call in the area of Praia da Luz.

I'd say I've never been a fan of Pat Brown but it wouldn't be true as I've never really paid much notice to what she has to say.
I had a a quick look over at CMoMM and there seems to be a high level of cynicism about this development over there too. I don't quite get the pessimism. This is, I believe, a genuine breakthrough, and it offers the chance of closure and hopefully a few answers too.

Quite possible. People seem to be thinking this development absolves the T9 but if anything I think it is just going to raise more questions which might not be so easy to brush aside in the context of a murder trial.

If she was knocked down though - having wandered out of the apartment by herself - surely she would have been found? More likely that she was snatched by a random predator who just happened to be there, as in the case of Sarah Payne in 2000.

I would venture to say that we did see this many times in the 'old' days. The Government is getting day after day of flack, front pages every day. What better than a headline about Maddy to bury their bad news? My middle name is cynical by the way. If he left the next day, how on earth did he manage to dispose of Maddy. unreorganised wrote:This is no Ben Needham style hatchet job.
Given his criminal history and the fact he was living in/near Luz at the time of the disappearance, why on earth was he not properly investigated before? With his history of sex attacks against children he was clearly going to be a possible suspect. Why has it taken so long and - perhaps the more pertinent question - why now?
My ears pricked up when the man was described as 'blond' and also the fact that he was from Germany, because a blond man was described by several eye-witnesses seen acting suspiciously near the apartment on the afternoon of the day Madeleine disappeared. Mrs Fenn's niece gave a very clear description of a blond man of Scandinavian appearance who she saw leaving a gate near the apartments (possibly leaving apartment 5C?) looking furtive that afternoon. I have long thought that this was one of the most significant 'sightings' of all.
The two Jensen sisters also described seeing two blond men standing on the veranda of empty apartment 5C on the afternoon of the day Madeleine disappeared. No blond men appeared in Kate's book, however, as she seemed to morph the two above sightings into a man with very dark hair and of slightly North African appearance. Of note, TM ignored the Jensen sisters sighting to the extent they travelled back to Luz to try to speak about their sighting but by then the McCanns had been made arguidos.
However, from the photos released of the man - now named as Christian Brueckner - he appears to have brown hair, certainly not blond hair (but perhaps he previously died his hair blond or it was bleached blond by the sun?) The latest suspect's hair is, however, distinctly lighter than the hair depicted in the e-fit from Kate's book.
Significantly, this e-fit is shown in today's lengthy Mirror story under the headline: Maddie murder suspect Christian Brueckner - clearly the suggestion is that Brueckner could be the blond man seen by Mrs Fenn's niece, and/or one of the blond men seen by the Jensen sisters near apartment 5A (or perhaps empty apartment 5C) that fateful afternoon.
Timing is everything, so they say. This stands out from the BBC news story shown above: "There is reason to assume that there are other persons, apart from the suspect, who have concrete knowledge of the course of the crime and maybe also of the place where the body was left," said German police.
The suspect is said to have received a call from 7.32 until 8.02 that Thursday evening. This is a crucial time, of course. It is after Gerry had returned from the men's tennis session at 7pm and before Kate and Gerry left to go to dinner at the Tapas at 8.30pm. Madeleine, along with her two siblings, had allegedly just been put to bed. It had been an idyllic bed-time, according to Kate, as they read bed-time stories. David Payne had visited apartment 5A an hour prior to the start of this phone call and seen all three children looking so 'well looked-after' and like angels.
The phone number of the suspect has been made public as has the phone number of the person/s he contacted at such a crucial time.
IF this person is significant to what happened - and it does sound less flaky than some of the other swarthy bogey-men - then it could lend support to the paedophile (ring?) theory. Brueckner has a track record of child sex offences. He was in the right place at the right time. If, say, he was part of some kind of paedophile ring then who might those 'other persons' with 'concrete knowledge of the course of the crime' be? Maybe even people who knew where the body was left, according to German police?
I wonder who made the phone call to the suspect's number at such a crucial time and in such a crucial place?
Talking of timings, at the time that this call was received by the suspect, the McCanns AND their friends were back in their apartments after the busy activities of the day. The men's tennis ended at 7pm (I think) and it wasn't until 8.30pm that the adult members of the group started making their way to the Tapas for dinner. IF, as has been postulated, Madeleine had already died by late afternoon/early evening of that fateful Thursday, then this short period of time after the activities and before dinner would have been an opportunity for the McCanns and their friends to make some hasty last-minute plans, imo.
On the other hand, this could just be another red herring? Perhaps to take the focus off Boris' most recent public message in which I think we got to the very heart of the SCAMDEMIC.
What an extraordinary coincidence that this plandemic just so happens to still be highly contagious in the UK (despite hospitals being empty of cases) at the start of the 'global vaccine summit' which Boris is hosting this week! Bringing together 50 countries with leading figures like Bill Gates the aim is to raise at least $7.4 billion for Gavi, the vaccine alliance, which boasts the UK as it's largest donor! Another of those amazing coincidences, seeing as we have one of the world's biggest death rates from coronavirus, allegedly. And we've been told only a vaccine can save us, despite many, many other countries now opening up without a vaccine. And many countries having far, far lower death rates without a vaccine in sight.
Listen to Boris' weasly words as he stands between his those two other 'health expert' weasels. He's making his third point which I think is at the heart of the whole scamdemic (6. 24 mark). Over the next 5 years Gavi - with the UK as the largest donor - will immunize a further 300 million children in the poorest countries against deadly disease. This will, apparently, not only save millions of lives but it will also stop the potentially deadly 'second wave' from reaching our shores.
So there we have it. Fear about the deadly coronavirus spread has been used to slide in a billion dollar deal with Gates and the trillion dollar vaccine/drug industry. The UK tax-payer is contributing not just for vaccines for the UK, but for vaccines globally.
But it's fine, because it will save millions of lives in poor countries, allegedly, and it will also prevent a 'second wave' in the UK!
So this is how Gate's 'philanthropy' works then, is it? Why doesn't he just donate directly to those countries who need help with their health-care systems? Oh no, that would be far too straightforward and might actually resolve the problems at the grassroots level. No, Gate's likes global networks and using other countries' money - particularly when they are in chaos and can't afford it. (Gates is also wedded to the vaccine agenda which makes me suspicious about the funding of 'routine immunizations' for poor countries. Both Gates and Boris have commented on world population levels).
You couldn't make it up, could you? We are all still at least in part under house arrest. Massive disruption to each and every person's lives with jobs gone, mental ill-health, schools and universities closed. And yet our government, run by one of the most ineffectual leaders ever, is making a billion-dollar deal with tax-payers money with one of the worlds' richest men as our own economy lies in tatters.
But it's okay! It will save millions of lives and, perhaps more importantly, that deadly feared 'second wave' - that has failed to materialize to any great degree in other countries - will have been avoided. And all because we did our humanitarian bit and helped immunize poor people who might well have wanted clean water, or perhaps even food.
In reality, of course, it's about making billions of pounds which will benefit a small minority of already hugely wealthy organizations and people.
What a scam. You can't help but think that the mess Boris made of it all, by not shutting borders, not testing etc was partly deliberate to keep the whole charade going long enough for Boris to present the public with his 'humanitarian' deal. And notice how Boris in his speech announced that there are now tests available for everyone. I wonder who supplied the tests and how much they cost the tax-payer? Talk about at least three months too late. The horse has bolted but we've stockpiled the tests months too late, when they won't be needed because the virus has run its course. Who cares? Its made the billionaires richer. They can just be stockpiled and then dumped along with all the vaccines and drugs that were made for previous pandemics and then dumped, again at huge tax-payers' expense .

ETA: This is my understanding of Boris' third point which he has couched in humanitarian terms but I think is purely a cover for a massive trade deal. I'm happy to be proved wrong in my interpretation of Boris' 'philanthropy' and concern for his people's emotional, physical and financial well-being.
It was announced today that face coverings are going to be made mandatory while using public transport at any time.

Re: The "number 1 suspect" Christian B
Lets assume that this definitely nasty German took her - then the McCanns are completely innocent. Easy for the German to get in - the Mccanns says the door was unlocked to facilitate their regular checks. If he intended to rob the apartment, he didn't take anything - apart from madeleine. So maybe this nasty man had seen Maddy and decided to take her for his dodgy pleasures. He must has doped her immediately so she could be carried out easily. He managed to get her into his vehicle unseen, and then away - to where?
But if the McCanns are innocent, how do you explain their lack of co-operation with the Portuguese police - Kate not answering the 48(?) questions, Tapas 9 not doing a reconstruction etc. Criticising the sardine munching Portuguese police (even if they thought they were doing a poor job) does not make sense if you want to keep them onside and keep trying to find their daughter. Their actions are those of a couple with a lot to hide..not those of an innocent couple who will do anything to find their daughter.
