Pretty good article Andrew. Much has been written on Lockerbie by John Ashton and shows the official suspect Al'Megrahi should never have been brought to trial and the subsequent prosecution made a mockery of Scottish justice. Many theories abound about why American Embassy staff and South African politicians chose to change their flights that day but  governmental knowledge would seem to be a given. RIP Yvonne!

What happened to WPC Fletcher stuff?????

What a bizarre story - the rabid man-hating feminists whom my son tells me about will certainly approve of this one.

Just as a matter of interest, how is this budding heart surgeon still studying at Oxford University while she is living in Milan?

Police probe 'fake crash' theory to cover up death of tragic schoolgirl Megan Bannister
The body of 16-year-old Megan was discovered on the back seat of a black Vauxhall Astra on Sunday

A girl who was found dead in a crashed car was not killed in the collision, detectives believe.
There are suspicions the smash was a deliberate act – to make it appear it is how 16-year-old Megan Bannister died.
Two men are being questioned on suspicion of her murder.
She was discovered in a Vauxhall Astra after it collided with a motorbike.

This TV show looks quite good that's about to start on Channel 4.

A bit of info about it:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/3574442/the-trial-a-murder-in-the-family-channel-4-cast-tonight/

COURT CASE What time is The Trial: A Murder in the Family on Channel 4, who’s in the cast with Michael Gould and what’s it about?
The five-part series will reveal the inner workings of the justice system

The Trial: A Murder In The Family is a ground-breaking five-part series to be shown across one week on Channel 4 starting TONIGHT (May 21).

In it, a fictional crime will be authentically tried by a team including practising QCs, a genuine judge and a jury of 12 members of the public.

A hybrid of drama and documentary, The Trial aims to both hook viewers with the real twists and turns of a criminal murder trial and reveal the inner workings of the justice system.

I've always believed him to be guilty of the annihilation of his family.

I've not heard of this one and will read up on it.

Alarm bells always go off when one member of a family escapes a massacre.

P.S. I've revived a topic about the MacDonald family murders which illustrates what I mean.

Post  Rosa canina Wed 31 May 2017, 6:06 am

I went to uni with David Bain and was living in Dunedin when all this happened -

(listened to the news on the radio of a turquoise Chrysler Valiant 1967)

- as soon as I heard he was doing a paper round at age 22, I thought 'guilty'.

I've put this case with the other miscellaneous ones, Rosa.

It must be chilling to realise that you knew someone accused of an awful crime.

There was a young guy at work whom I got on with okay but he was a bit strange, I must admit. He told what sounded like very tall stories about himself and his family and it was suspected, but never proved, that he was the person who was vandalising the gents' toilets - removing all the screws from the doors and partitions and, more seriously, putting large needles in the bars of soap. Installing CCTV wasn't considered appropriate because of the area concerned!

Another colleague said that, if ever someone was to "go postal" in the office - meaning to run amok with knives or guns - it would be David, not his real name.

That never happened but sadly David became destitute and on the streets due to drugs and mental health issues. However, the last time I heard of him - directly on Facebook - he had "found Jesus" which I wouldn't normally think is a good idea, but he was off the streets and working for a homeless charity.

P.S. At the same time there was also a girl with very similar issues - the tall stories and even problems in the toilets! I won't go into details but it involved causing blockages.

...I've not read it but the theme of discovering someone you know well to be a murderer is explored in Ann Rule's book, 'The Stranger Beside Me.' Ann worked with and became friends with Ted Bundy. His profile and deviousness reminds me of the story above, except Ted Bundy was a notorious serial killer. I think he managed to fool a lot of people for a long time, largely because he was educated, good looking and superficially charming. He met Ann when they were both working as volunteers at a charity, giving telephone support to people who had suicidal thoughts. I also read an article in which Debbie Harry said she was offered a lift by Bundy but sensing something was wrong, she managed to get out of his car, in which he had removed the inside passenger door handle. It was I think Ann's friendship with Bundy that helped to catch him, because another escaped victim described his car and this was publicised, which Ann recognised and reported - I think.

Miscellaneous Criminal Cases - Page 17 Empty Missing / murdered teenagers in NL

Post  Châtelaine Sat 03 Jun 2017, 2:34 pm

There's a strange double case at the moment in the Netherlands.

A 14-year-old girl was reported missing last Thursday.
She hasn't been found yet, but they did find her bicycle.

Another 14-year-old girl wasn't reported missing, but was found last night in a lake - murdered.

They lived only 16 km away from eachother ...

The other girl was found too.
Also murdered, also in the water, a couple of miles apart.

Police have arrested and are interrogating two teenage boys.
They [the police] say it's separate cases, but I'm struggling to believe that.
O.K. they may be separate cases, in the sense that the girls [both 14] didn't know each other and that the boys [14 & 16] maybe didn't know each other either.

BUT, there's a "but" IMO, in the sense they may be unrelated in terms of social circles. The girls lived in the so-called "Bible belt". Serious & strict reformed protestants [the ones, that don't want their children to be vaccinated against something as serious and life-threatening or at least crippling diseases like polio as everything is the "will of God"]. Theirs used to be a small world. Nowadays, we have social media. As far as we know now, at least one of the girls was on-line with her now supposed killer-boy and going to meet him, without her parents knowing. A lot of people, young  [but also older ones ...], are not aware of the dangers of "meeting" total strangers on-line [often pretending not to be, what/who they really are].

I'll be following this case closely.
I'm very, very sad for the victims [even their murderers may be victims], but the role of social media [Oh, don't misunderstand me: I'm all for it, even though I "don't" do Facebook or twitter] or rather the use of it, must be observed carefully, IMO.

Mother of murdered Baby Doe testifies that her heroin addict ex-boyfriend was a follower of Alex Jones and believed government workers were 'shape-shifters' before he 'killed her'
Rachelle Bond testified against Michael McCarthy in Boston on Monday
McCarthy, 37, is accused of murdering two-year-old Bella in June 2015
The toddler's body was found washed up in a plastic trash bag at Deer Island
Police called her Baby Doe for months before someone identified her
Her mother is being spared jail to testify against McCarthy who she says carried out the killing because he was obsessed with the occult
