Re: Celebrity deaths
No doubt we'll know in due course. He nearly died with pneumonia a few years ago so maybe it was another bout of that.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Bloody hell, again.
He was on deaths door a few years back, Mimi.
I actually never knew his full name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou.
RIP.

His song 'Last Christmas' was one of my favourite ever records.
Very sad news - I am in shock.

One who has been omitted from the list is Greg Lake.

That song came out when I'd just started secondary school - I vividly remember completely failing to "get it" at the time, musically or lyrically, and being totally nonplussed by its success. I think I was about thirty by the time it finally sank in.
RIP George - one of those few times it feels safe to come out with something trite like "Great singer, great songs" without it seeming like a platitude trotted out because the guy is brown bread.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Slightly off topic but have a listen to "A different drum" from Linda Ronstadt and the Stone ponys, same meanings I believe.before your time though.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Not alas before my time! It was written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees. Pedantic old git as I am, I've been looking at the word poneys, thinking surely that's not right and of course it should be ponies.
Maybe of course it's poetic licence, similar to Monkees and Monkeys.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Gosh, sad to hear this.
The most recent news was that she was doing OK but if I recall the incident on the plane had been an extremely serious one..
RIP.
