Re: Celebrity deaths
I have to admit I found it odd about him sleeping in the car Christmas Eve, and not coming in until 11.30am to wake up GM??

Most people do die of heart failure, ie the heart fails and you die. There are many underlying causes for this.

Quite froggy. That is why people die. What causes that is sometimes investigated.

Re: Celebrity deaths
I know people die of heart failiure but why did the bf say saomething with so much certainity when he could of died through any number of other reasons, you dont see news reporters saying other stars have died of heart failiure do you its normally unexplained, waiting to be confirmed not something so conclusive

Re: Celebrity deaths
I find it a bit offensive the boyfriend making newspaper reports actually but I am a sensitive soul.
Sudden Adult Death Syndrome is not unheard of - sadly I know two people this has happened to.
Hopefully it will be found to be 'natural causes' but unexplained. I was sad to hear of his passing at such a young age.

Re: Celebrity deaths
You can have heart failure for years before you actually die of it. Perhaps the boyfriend knew it was one of his previous diagnoses. My husband lived for 4 years with heart failure.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Hi Mimi sorry to hear that. I sadly also know a few people with heart failiure . Perhaps I worded it poorly but the way the boyfriend anounced the cause of death just rang alarm bells , fverdict amily members normally hold nack on comenting until after an official verdict, to me, it sounded like he needed to get a cause of death out there to aliviate any doubt.Mimi wrote:You can have heart failure for years before you actually die of it. I also thought of sudden ahult death syndrome Bluebell.

Re: Celebrity deaths
Celebrity isn't the right word here.
I was thinking of this terrible case only the other day - the person who was not involved in the rape got a longer sentence than those who did.

Re: Celebrity deaths
The mindset of the judiciary is almost psycopathic sometimes, as if they have no empathy. To say `the victim`s suffering wasn`t so great` when she had been gang raped is totally devoid of any understanding. So much so, one almost wishes the judge could be gang raped just to make him realise the devastation. I believe he did apologise later in life but one wonders if he was pushed to do so.

A somewhat unusual send-off for Carrie Fisher - okay, maybe not by showbiz standards.

Sad to hear that, and also that he suffered from such a dreadful disease for many years.

Re: Celebrity deaths
I have not forgotten the embarrassment I felt - approaching 50 years after the event - when the BBC played the wrong side of his follow-up single Frozen Orange Juice.
My mother blew a fuse and nearly had to be picked up off the floor. Needless to say, it just seems silly now but at the time a lot of people complained about it.

I remember that one as well. Probably still have it in the loft actually. Good times
eta Freedom. My mother was very easily shocked. Even holding hands with a boyfriend was frowned on.

It may have been the swinging 1960s elsewhere but certainly not where I lived!
Thank goodness that this one was never played on the radio!

Re: Celebrity deaths
Here in France it's still played on the radio at least once a week.
I truly hate that song.

I think we should have a thread for things that are popular that you personally can't stand. I never got the enduring popularity of "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League - my teeth are on edge after about two seconds of the intro.

Victor Lownes
Victor Lownes died today aged 88.
This was in the days of the Playboy Club.
A girl in the year below me at school became the first full frontal in Playboy mag and later married Victor.
She`s in one of my school photos - she was a good looking girl back then.
