There comes a point in legal proceedings when a person in custody can't be named, although a lot of people know who it is. The press get round this by saying things like ' a 55 year old man is in custody ' then later on 'her boyfriend is 55 year old ...... ...... 'Or 'an 18 year old female is being questioned ', then later it will say he has daughter of 18 and a son of 20 . No laws broken

Ugh as regards that grinning ninny!

I notice this quote from the partner.

Appealing for information, her partner Ian Stewart – originally from Letchworth – said: “Days have become weeks and weeks have become months – Helen, please don’t let months become years. Helen, bring Boris home or ring 116 000. Life without you is just wrong.”

The dog Boris seems to be the main concern!

I was wandering about the dog, Boris.

Couldn't see much about him so presumably he has not been seen since Helen's disappearance either....

Well I think this Ian Stewart chap has certainly got a hand in all this. (imo)

You might think they would wait for the results of the post-mortem before charging someone with murder.

No kidding [and with due respect]: one claims she's gone missing and then is found buried in the garden ...

Yes, it's hardly likely to be a natural death in such circumstances, is it?

I don't mean to be unfeeling - but I wonder what happened to her dog? Her husband did bring it up when he reported her 'missing'

How big was this septic tank and how come nobody spotted something before when they originally searched...

They are not the sort of thing you choose to have on prominent display in a garden and are entirely underground, so might be easily missed if you were unaware that there was one.

Seems as if the septic tank was built below a garage, which seems quite an unusual place. Not surprising that it was missed, particularly if a car had been parked over the opening.

Yes septic tanks can be huge. I have one in my garden. It is obvious because of the manhole but if we had built a shed or garage over it you wouldn't know it was there. The manholes are usually hermetically sealed against odours too.

Snipped:

The body of missing author Helen Bailey was discovered in a hidden cesspit at her home it is claimed.

Neighbours said detectives did not know of the waste tank until a former owner of the house revealed its location in the garage.

It was apparently overlooked when police searched the £1.2million property soon after Helen, 51, vanished in April. Nicki McGrath, whose mum lives next door in Royston, Herts, said: “I have some empathy with the police... they could not have known the cesspit was there.”

Mother-of-three Nicki McGrath from Perth, Australia, whose mother lives next door, said police had been unaware of the existence of the cesspit.

Ms McGrath said: "My mum was being disturbed by the noise of the generator which the police were using during their search.

"We had a word with police to ask them what time they would be turning it off.

"We were just leaving when, I said, “It might sound stupid, but have you dredged the well?"

"They said they could not say anything. We told them that the last person who had owned the house used to joke that he had this ideal place to dump a body.

"The police had not been aware that it was there. The body was found a little while later. It must have been in the cesspit because they had searched everywhere else without finding anything."

I'm speaking generally and not inferring whether the accused man is responsible or not; how dreadful to think what some people are capable of doing to another human being. Killing them and dumping them as if they were a piece of filth in a septic tank.

Words fail me.

Although this awful death, to date, is pointing to the partner as the culprit, I must say, from his photo, he looks the last type of fellow to do it. When I first saw it I thought what a kind bloke he looked like who wouldn`t say boo to a goose.

... didn't people used to say similar things about Ted Bundy as well.

Speculation on my behalf - but she was going to leave him and he couldn't handle it. They argued. He snapped, killed her and panicked.

Prior to that he probably never even had so much as a parking ticket.
