The character that plays Louis Charalambous from Simons Muirhead and Burton ( http://www.smab.co.uk/people/employees/partner/louis-charalambous.aspx ) claimed that Dawn Murat was offered 200,000 Euros by a journalist to say that her ex-husband Robert Murat was a paedophile and had a secret chamber in his house. She rightfully declined the offer.
Shocking if true. I can't remember ever reading about this offer.

ETA: don't know why the name Resistor mentioned is censored, but I shall do the same.
If necessary can you ********* this same name quoted below Admin. Thanks.

Thank you chirpyinsect, I just couldn't find any reference to it when I looked so turned to this forum's brilliant knowledgeable posters for confirmation, and it worked.

Or have I got it all wrong, and all this present activity in Faro will be the end of the interviews?
I read that the person (a woman) would be interviewed in UK. I had a punt that this was Christine Callan.
I'd have sworn I read the UK citizen would be interviewed in portugal, somewhere yesterday though, can't remember where...
=====
Apologies I must have misread something. This is from BBC News website today.
An 11th person, a woman who is currently in the UK, will also be questioned in Portugal at a later date.

In the programme they stated a journalist offered the money. They must have checked this with the real Charalambous, after all his profession is fighting libel.

Madeleine McCann: Police question British ex-pat witness Robert Murat for four hours
Dec 12, 2014 19:09
[*]By David Collins, Gerard Couzens
British ex-pat Robert Murat was questioned as a witness for more than four hours today at an Algarve police station about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
The IT consultant, 41, was driven away from Faro Police Station late lunchtime along with his lawyer Francisco Pagarete after answering questions.
It was the second time in three days he had attended the station.
Police were due to question Mr Murat on Wednesday but ran out of time after interviewing his German-born wife Michaela Walczuch, 38, as a witness.
He was the last of ten men and women - four Brits, a German and five Portuguese nationals - quizzed this week on the Algarve at Scotland Yard’s request.
A British woman described as the wife of one of the Portuguese witnesses is also understood to have been questioned in the UK.
There was no immediate word on what Mr Murat had been asked or replied.
The interviews were conducted behind closed doors and Mr Pagarete declined to comment.
Michaela did not return to the police station with her husband today.
There was no sign either of Operation Grange boss Andy Redwood or DCI Nicola Wall, who is due to take charge of the British police probe into Madeleine’s disappearance when he retires later this month.
Mr Murat was questioned days after Madeleine went missing on May 3 2007 before being cleared a year later.
He is not suspected of any involvement in the youngster's disappearance, and said last month when it emerged he was facing questioning that he was happy to cooperate.
Speaking before he received his official notification, he said: "My conscience is clear and I have no problem speaking to police again."
Michaela, Mr Murat's girlfriend when Madeleine vanished, was questioned three times as a witness after the youngster's disappearance.
A Portuguese lorry driver later came forward to say he had seen a blonde woman he said resembled the estate agent passing a blanket containing a child to a man on an Algarve farm the day after Madeleine vanished.
A Spanish woman also claimed she had spotted her in a town in northern Morocco in June 2007, moments after she had seen a girl who looked just like Madeleine.
Michaela's home was searched by Portuguese police after Madeleine disappeared.
Protesting her innocence in a December 2007 interview with a UK newspaper, she said: "I lost my faith not just in justice but in the whole system and everyone that supports it.
"The worst part is people putting me in this, knowing I have nothing to do with it.
"They have no feelings, no heart.
"They are completely empty.
"When Robert called me to tell me that there was a story about these sightings I went into town and I just saw my face on the front of all the papers.
"I felt sick."
This week's police quizzes were the first since four men were questioned as arguidos at the start of July.
All four - who included Russian businessman Sergey Malinka and a schizophrenic heroin addict - insisted they had nothing to do with Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
British police believe Madeleine was killed during a bungled burglary, a theory their Portuguese counterparts who are conducting their own parallel investigation into Madeleine’s disappearance have privately rubbished.
Parts of the Praia da Luz resort where the youngster vanished were dug up in June at Scotland Yard's request in a grim search for her body - but failed to yield any clues.
British police are now expected to seek permission to carry out new tests on DNA material taken from Madeleine’s apartment and held at a lab in Coimbra, northern Portugal.
Operation Grange officers visited the lab during a previous trip to the country in mid-October.

I hope RM tells all if he hasn't already, but that's IF he knows anything at all.
What else can RM tell them... Get the lot back to portugal for a reconstruction! Repeat repeat repeat!

I think it is a great pity some folk have tried to cast aspersions on the Smith family. I note posters above have discussed incidents that made their blood boil. The attacks on the Smiths had the same effect on me.

When I think about it, RM is closest to the core of the onion, right there beside the tapas9. Is OG questioning him as a witness, because he was the one that was translating statements from the off? I'm also thinking, if RM was there that night, whether he'd anything to do with it or not, would he not have helped with the translations at that time? I don't see him standing about watching the panick and searches around the OC without approaching an officer to help.

I feel that the questioning of Murat is very positive as it took us back to the events of May 20o7 and all the fluff of the years in between. If he is ruled out/comes up with something new, what exactly are we left with?
That's right, back to basics and those who were with Maddie before she became the most famous missing child. IMO
Edit, you are Irish too? Just realized!

You know, sometimes we are blinded by over-complications. You've hit the nail on the head, DDL. Of course Murat knows more than most. He was there at the outset. He heard everything raw, un-doctored and off-the-cuff. He was the one translating. He and Mrs Batista are potential goldmines. They heard everyone's take on things, before they had a chance to amend their stories.
Talk about overlooking the bleeding obvious! Thank you for bringing it all back to simple common-sense!

If Murat would have had anything to do with Madeleine, he would have been the last one to show up near the apartment that night.

Any of you could please tell me where could I find a photo of Kate and Gerry's which was taken around end April, begining of May 2011, when they already had heard about the Yard investigation?
That photo is a proof that they were devastated with that unexpected news, imo.

Re: Madeleine McCann: British police to observe questioning in Portugal - BBC 9/12/14
Just spotted this though I don't have a source for it. It reads like it was from a newspaper article but the relevant part refers to what I thought I had read about a British woman being quizzed in the UK.

A British woman described as the wife of one of the Portuguese witnesses is also understood to have been questioned in the UK.
I wonder if this could be RM`s ex wife as I don't think Christine Callan is married though I could be wrong on that.

When RM was first made an arguido was it on from the info given by the tapas lot?

I think, but I may be wrong, so needs checking that he asked for arguido status himself?

Could k&g be two of the four questioned in the UK this week? Could that be why they weren't in Portugal with their lawyer?
No facts, just questions.
