Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
Hope wrote:This may be daft but what about his nappy? Chris says he wet himself, she rinsed them and put them on the tree to dry. In a doc Eddie thought it was water from the hose but she corrects him, they say how he was just in sandals and his top. No mention of a nappy, disposable ones were very expensive in places like Greece 25 yrs ago. Did they use terry cloth ones or was he being toilet trained, very early but not impossible.
And in Kerry's book it says:
"Ben had discovered a water barrel and after he'd skimmed his cars along the surface he'd started scooping bowlfuls out to mix potions with dirt and leaves. When he tired of that, the next scoop was tipped straight over his own head.
I suppose it was pure instinct to try to cool down in that savage heat. Even so, the look of shock on Ben's face as the water soaked him made it look like he'd jumped into a shower of ice.
Stephen saw it happen and burst out laughing. Everyone else joined in when they saw the drowned rat dripping in front of them. That was enough for Ben. That boy lived for laughter. He thrived on it. So, uncomfortable as he was, what did he do?
Scooped another bowl of water onto his head.
The laughter was even louder this time, more so when he yelled, 'I'm so funny!' Of course, he carried on dousing himself until Mum put a stop to it and dried him off. She hung Ben's shorts from a tree to dry and told him not to get anything else ruined because there were no spares. Ben didn't care about wearing only a T-shirt and little buckled sandals any more that he did about being wet. He just loved being a showman."
Which one was it:
Wet himself?
Water hose?
Water barrel?
And what about his wet T-shirt?

Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
On the doc she tells Eddie Ben had def wet himself, he is surprised as he thought it was the water Ben was playing with.
This is why I'd love the book, I have a great memory for discrepancies.

Surely Eddie would have remembered all the laughter at this playacting and pushed Christine on this? And no mention of a nappy or pants getting wet.

I don't know where you are, but might you be able to borrow it as an e-book from your library?
Another discrepancy:
Christine says in the interview on ITV: "Just a walk, stroll, 20 minutes-ish.
Kerry says in her book: "Iraklis was about a forty-minute walk and most of it was uphill. Mum was fit enough. ....... It was a picturesque route and Mum was in no rush so they actually took closer to fifty minutes."

The mum of #BenNeedham has broken down on @GMB as she described the pain of waiting for call from police #Kos about her son. @itvcalendar

I need to get a copy of this book. Some of the discrepancies pointed out upthread by TTWO, Hope and Seahorse are very alarming to say the least.

Duncan Wood's update.
It bizarrely got a bit sidetracked towards the end as some woman on the live facebook feed was claiming she has seen Ben alive and well working on a nearby beach. Apparently she has told Kerry all about this and the Police but the Police have not got back to her or something. Oh and he lives with a Greek family in Tingaki, wherever that is.

Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
Whatever they have told Kerry she now believes Ben is dead and is going through hell, so why are the police 100% sure on one mans story?
The discrepancies are alarming and that's without reading the book, I believe Kerry does not know what happened though, her pain and grief have been all too real since day one. The poor pet, you just want to hug her and make it all go away.

k.
On Ben Needham.18 blog there is a long article by Melanie McFeydean also pub elsewhere, she followed case from the start and knows the family well. It is on Kerry's old blog from 2007 and I think I saw it in the Guardian, so it's approved by the family. Kerry also writes her account of what happened and her begs for help.
It clearly says Ben's father did not go with them to Kos.
Yet I have read more than once that Simon went but left after 2 months.
I think the book says he went too, can someone check?
In bad way today but this is a big discrepancy so had to ask. Thanks.

Simon came to join them on 12th June. He couldn't settle on Kos and left again on 22th July.
Hope you feel better soon Hope.

Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
I just read that other part of the blog, Hope, that you were referring to. I read it ages ago but it's interesting rereading it when you're a bit more clued up on the case as a whole.
