Exactly my thoughts, Froggy.

It's about as new as an old wives' tale.

Absolutely nothing.

I can't help but think that 'another theory' was supposed to get an airing which was along the lines of G.A's book etc but with some last minute legal threats the whole thing was scrapped and hence we got the old theory peddled out in 30 seconds flat.

As Antonia mentioned on the other page:

"And that raises concerns I have in regards to Madeleine. I believe she woke up in the middle of the night, she went looking for Gerry and Kate and she left the apartment and went out."

I agree MWT - definitely a paid up member of the wider Team Mc Cann. Let's face it they're feeling pretty desperate and this is just the sort of thing they needed to do. A prime time slot on TV with a target audience.
Another move in the game. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Thanks for that Andrew, I knew I had read it.

He looked almost stumped when asked to give his theory as if it was very short notice and he wasn't expecting it, I think he was caught out a bit, and had originally gone on to talk more about the trial verdict.

This was the original remit of the conversation as advertised by ITV..  -  no investigation about not being in the clear at all!

On Tuesday's show... can tracksuits really be stylish? Victoria Beckham seems to think so and Trinny will be showing us how to pull off the sports look at any age.

And it's been almost 10 years since Madeleine McCann disappeared on holiday in Portugal. But her parents have just been told - they're not in the clear. Mark Williams-Thomas investigates.

Join us from 10:30 for all this and more.

The parents of Madeleine McCann are “baffled” by an investigative journalist's new theory about how the youngster vanished.

Mark Williams-Thomas, a former policeman, appeared on ITV's This Morning to voice his “astonishing new theory” about Maddie’s disappearance.

The couple have always insisted their three-year-old daughter was snatched from a Portuguese holiday flat while they were dining in a nearby tapas bar, either by a sex fiend or during a botched burglary.

But TV detective Mr Williams-Thomas believes the unsettled youngster walked out of the unlocked apartment searching for her parents in the poolside restaurant.

The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell hit back today, saying: “This is pure speculation and, as such, Kate and Gerry will not be dignifying it with any sort of comment whatsoever.”

Astonishing new Madeleine McCann theory revealed on This Morning 10 years after she went missing

A source close to the pair said: “It’s baffling a television programme had him on as an authority on the Madeleine case.

"He’s re-invented himself as a criminologist but when did he become an expert on this high profile case? Never.”

The friend added: “He said he had received a statement from the McCanns saying they were pleased there was an ongoing investigation which they hoped would unearth some news but they haven’t been in contact with him, neither has their spokesperson.

“It seems he was rehashing a years-old statement that was circulated to all the media.”

Mr Williams-Thomas revealed his theory about that fateful night in Praia da Luz in May 2007 when he appeared on the show as part of a new series on unsolved crimes.

Speaking to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, he echoed previously reported lines about Maddie’s asking her mum and dad “where were you last night?” and her twin siblings waking up on previous nights.

He then stated: “The concern I have, I believe she woke up and went looking for them, she left the apartment and came out, we already know the patio door was insecure.”

The McCann source said: “With no disrespect to this investigative reporter, he is forever trying to latch himself onto the Maddie case. He’s said this all before and he once stood outside Apartment 5A reporting his same old belief.

“But they’re (Kate and Gerry) not going to fall out with him over this. It’s all based on speculation and it’s a free country and they’ve got enough to be dealing with.”

Former GP Kate and heart doctor Gerry, both 48, of Rothley, Leics, believe Maddie could still be alive and have never given up hope of finding her. They face the heart-breaking 10th anniversary of her disappearance in 10 weeks. She would now be aged 13.

Detectives have explored dozens of theories about Madeleine's disappearance from being snatched by paedophiles and murdered during a botched burglary.

Despite nearly 9,000 potential sightings across the globe police have struggled to unearth any new clues.

This is potentially Operation Grange’s final year of searching and they are concentrating solely on the fact she was sold by child traffickers – her parents’ and their first team of private investigators’ initial hunch – and could still be alive.

Reports following her kidnap suggested she could have been smuggled to Belgium or Morocco in North Africa.

Forensic investigations into Maddie’s disappearance just nine days before her fourth birthday were concluded last year.

So far the inquiry, launched in May 2011 on orders of then Prime Minister David Cameron , has cost more than £12 million with topped-up funds set to run out at the end of March.

A very very long time ago, back in the days of 3A's, there were some people who were interviewed who said that they had seen and heard Gerry and Kate shouting for Madeleine one evening because she had apparently run away from them and was hiding in some bushes near the apartment, on the OC grounds. Whether or not this was true, I don't know. I'm not sure the details of this witness account can be easily found, but there was discussion about it on either 3A or its predecessor the Daily Mail chat group. There was speculation then, that it was possible that she had fallen down the stairs and hurt herself, and the McCanns were covering for this by pretending to look for her, or they had genuinely misplaced her and she was hiding and they were trying to find her.

If anyone can find this reference anywhere, it might be enlightening and useful.

I think Gerry McCann gives an account of Madeleine running away in one of his statements.  Sorry can't look for it at the moment.

Back in the early days I didn't pay too much attention to the case even though I didn't believe the parents. But I do remember reading certain things which must have been in the newspapers at the time as those and the TV were the only access I had to the case.

I remember reading this so it must have been in a newspaper.

"In a further twist, locals now claim that Madeleine did not always settle well. One evening they allege she ran away into the paths between the apartments, hiding for half an hour when it was time for bed."

Found this from August 2007. Very interesting read (but confusing as says quiz night tok place on the night of the disappearance).

'THIS IS PURE SPECULATION' Kate and Gerry McCann hit out at ITV’s This Morning for broadcasting ex-cop’s theories on what happened to Maddie
Maddie's parents are baffled by the TV show using Mark Williams-Thomas to voice his 'astonishing new theory' about her disappearance

BY TRACEY KANDOHLA 21st February 2017, 8:41 pm

THE parents of Madeleine McCann are “baffled” by a TV show hiring an ex-cop to tell the nation what he thinks happened to their daughter.

Kate and Gerry McCann hit out at ITV’s This Morning for using Mark Williams-Thomas, now an investigative journalist, to voice his “astonishing new theory” about Maddie’s disappearance, a close pal said today.

He claims she went looking for her parents at the tapas bar they were at on May 3, 2007
The couple have always insisted their three-year-old daughter was snatched from a Portuguese holiday flat while they were dining in a nearby tapas bar, either by a sex fiend or during a botched burglary.

But TV detective Mr Williams-Thomas, believes the unsettled youngster walked out of the unlocked apartment searching for her parents in the poolside restaurant.

The McCann’s spokesman Clarence Mitchel said today: “This is pure speculation and as such Kate and Gerry will not be dignifying it with any sort comment whatsoever.”

A source close to the pair said: “It’s baffling a television programme had him on as an authority on the Madeleine case.

“He’s re-invented himself as a criminologist but when did he become an expert on this high profile case? “Never!”

The friend added: “He said he had received a statement from the McCanns saying they were pleased there was an on-going investigation which they hoped would unearth some news but they haven’t been in contact with him, neither has their spokesperson.

“It seems he was re-hashing a years-old statement that was circulated to all the media.”

Mr Williams-Thomas revealed his theory about that fateful night in Praia da Luz in May 2007 when he appeared on the show as part of a new series on unsolved crimes.

Speaking to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby he echoed previously reported lines about Maddie’s asking her mum and dad “Where were you last night?” and her twin siblings waking up on previous nights.

He then stated: “The concern I have, I believe she woke up and went looking for them, she left the apartment and came out, we already know the patio door was insecure.”

The McCann source said: “With no disrespect to this investigative reporter he is forever trying to latch himself onto the Maddie case.

“He’s said this all before and he once stood outside Apartment 5a reporting his same old belief.

“Allowing him on This Morning to air his views won’t help the show get in Kate and Gerry’s good books.

“But they’re not going to fall out with him over this.

“It’s all based on speculation and it’s a free country and they’ve got enough to be dealing with.”

Former GP Kate and heart doctor Gerry, 48, of Rothley, Leics, believe Maddie could still be alive and have never given up hope of finding her.

They face the heart-breaking 10th anniversary of her disappearance in 10 weeks.

She would now be aged 13.

Mr Williams-Thomas boasts he has “far-reaching experience of working at the centre of high profile investigations.”

The self-styled commentator boasts on his website how he has “over the last decade reported on the biggest crime stories.”

They've always poured scorn over the 'woke and wandered' scenario as that was mainly the thesis of G.A's book (fell off the back of the sofa). And they've spent god knows how many millions on trying to silence him so there's obviously truth in it.

What M-WT has done is widen the parameters a bit in some respect. And fell out with the Mc's about it as well by the looks of it.

You would actually think they would be in agreement with the 'woke, wandered outside, opportunist pick-up' scenario but they've never entertained that either.

So a quick theory... The night Mrs Fenn heard the crying abruptly stop... Could M have escaped out the door when the parents came back sozzled and fell down the steps. A serious head injury that would warrant perhaps the Mother to sleep in the childrens room the following night. Other Doc's keeping an eye on her but thought she was ok and then something fatal happened on the Thurs.... Like fell of the back of the sofa.

Just speculating.....
