Thanks Andrew. That's very interesting. So maybe they're not that bothered about where Dino dumped his rubble.
In this article DI Cousins says this: http://home.bt.com/news/world-news/team-searching-for-missing-toddler-ben-needham-extends-stay-on-kos-11364104121396
He said the current searches are based on specific intelligence.
Does this suggest first hand knowledge versus information being confessed to a friend?
Just to show another angle of where the police are searching right now here is a picture from street view:
To the right is the road between the caravan and farmhouse and to left the road to the rubble dump site which you can see how close it is. It looks like the only place in the immediate area that is flat and open enough for heavy machinery to access and dump rubble.

I wonder have they found something at the 2nd site?!? Compacted material?

I've been wondering that as well ddl. Could it be pieces of Ben's leather sandals that they spoke of the other day?
Bits of cigarette packets, drink cans, I think I heard the DI mention things like that help ?? It must be a desperate search to find something connecting the first two sites to continue where they are.
And, what a difference from the PdL excavations and search by SY for MM. At least we get updates here and they are keeping journalists and public informed. I don't know why SY didn't do this.

Different tactics, I guess, BB. But with the same goal: see who and how they react to what's being said & done or, as for that matter, not said & done ... IMO, of course.
I do rely on weathered and experienced "specialists" [read police, forensics, psychologists, etc.], rather than on me, with not having enough detailed and inside information ;-)

I do see what you mean C. I think (could be misinformed) that Kerry is staying in Greece somewhere while this search goes on ? The comparison to Kate and Gerry while the digging/search was happening in PdL. is clear.
Maybe having frequent updates and journalists on site tends to feed the need to ask "What's happening right now" ?
Quite unreasonable, and how hard this must be for the family.
There appear to be very experienced police, forensics and archaeologists involved here - patience is needed obviously.

Will be moving spoil from site 2 back to the farmhouse for further examination.
60 exhibits of interest has been found at the farmhouse and that'll be returning back to the UK for further analysis when the Op Ben team return back.(nothing of that deemed a priority to be returned immediately - they are of interest but not major interest but won't disclose what they are)
That's pretty much the gist of what I made of that...

Thanks Andrew, this waiting must be unbearable for Kerry and family, I hope it is over soon for them.

Interesting question, maybe the local police were not sure of the recent intel and thought it didn't warrant a search, meanwhile its possible that the Yorkshire police thought it was worth pursuing and with the permission from the the Greece equivalent of the home office allowed the digs with the cost being wholly and solely met by the brits.
This article makes no mention of the local police at all.

Been thinking about what you said.... perhaps the driver and key word here is "search" and they are there under that umberella?.......as opposed to a criminal investigation....although they at times give the impression thats what they are up to....the very thing they cannot do in Portugal!

If and its a big if,they find the remains, unless there is a whole body I'd think that cause of death couldn't be determined and the most likely cause was this supposed death bed confession.

Due to the statue of limitation time frame that has since passed and nobody in Greece (Kos) can be charged with anything, then the local police probably feel it's a waste of time and resources to get involved.

Incidentally, I didn't know until today that the one and only time Ben went to the farmhouse was the day he disappeared...

The statue limitations would explain why they aren't involved.

Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
Forgot about the limitation bit Andrew...thanks......so we are purely there to find a body....and perhaps throw light on the tragic dissaperance of Ben Needham. And if we point a finger or two at people with no recourse to confirm or deny .... then so be it......you can see why the Europeans love us!

Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
I'm lost sorry, is there a statute of limitations in Greece if it is murder? (Not saying it is of course, but we have no idea what happened to little Ben, but wondering about their laws) There is usually no limit on that is there?

Kerry has been told the police are looking for fragments, which to me suggests they believe the digger scenario, but what if a whole skeleton is recovered?

Re: The Mystery of Ben Needham
Regarding how Ben arrived at the farmhouse, it's been mentioned before here that it's in the book and also in the 2001 documentary that Christine walked there with her son Danny and Ben, who was in a pushchair.
There are conflicting reports as to whether it was the first time they had ever been there.
